AN ORDINANCE ESTAR.ISHIOO A NO-PARKING ZONE ON THE IDRTH AND SOUTH SIDE

TENDING EAST A DISTANCE OF ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY (150') FEETJ AUTHORIZiro THE'
PAINTING OF CURBS AND THE ERECTION OF SIGNS; PROVIDING A PENALTY; REPEALING
CONFLICTING OIIDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMEIGENCY.
WHEREAS, in the interest of public safety, changed tra.ffi~ conditions
creating a public hazard require a No-Parking Zone to be established on the
North and South side of Main Street beginning at the intersection of ~in
Street and Avenue Q and extending East a distance of one hundred and fifty
(150') feet; T H E R E F 0 R E,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OOMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
"
SECTION 1. That a No-Parking Zone BE, and it is hereby established on
the following described portion of street, and it shall hereafter be unlawful
for any person operating, driving or in control of a vehicle to allow, permit
or suffer such vehicle to be parked in that porti~n of the street hereinafter
described as constituting a No-Parking Zone.
SECTION 2. That that portion of street referred to in Section 1 (One)
of this ordinance as a No-Parking Zone is as follows:
.. On the North and South side of Mlin Street beginning at the
intersection of Maln S~.~ and Avenue Q and extending East
a distance of one hpndreCilC150') feet.
SECTION 3. That the Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed
to paint or cause to be painted the curbs and to erect signs indicating a No-
Parking Zone consistent with th~ provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. That any person 'Who shall suffer or permit any vehicle
operated, driven or controlled by' him to be parked in the area desai.bed in
Section 2 (Two) of this ordinance shall upon conviction, be tined in any swn
not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200).
SEGI'ION 5. That all portions of all other ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. That the City Secretary is authorized to cause publication
of the descriptive caption of this ordinance, together with the peD&l~ clause,
as an alternative method .provided by law.
SECTION 7. That the enactment of this ordinance being necessary to the
public safety and to provide a greater use of the public streets pd, due to
changed traffic conditions, is declared to be an emergency measure, thereby
creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be
presented at two separate meetings be dispensed with; and this ordinance shall
be effective from the date of publication, as herein provided.
