0RDINANCE NO. 1579
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF APPROXIMATELY TEN (10) ACRES
OF LAND LOCATED BETWEEN CANTON AND BJSTON AVENUES AND 38TH AND 40!'H STREETS;
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE WARRANTY Dli!ED TO loT. R. SLATON AND THE ACCEPT-
ANcE OF CONSIDERATION IN CASH AND PROMISSORY VENDOR'S LIEN NOTE, AND DECLARING
AN EMH!RGENCY.
. W H E R E A S, on May 27 1954, the City Commission received bids
for the sale of approximately ten (10) acres of land hereimfter described and
accepted a bid submitted by W. R. Slaton in the amount of $41,600.00 subject to
the approval of the Park Board of the City of Lubbock; and,
W H E R E A S, as required by the City Commission, the Park Board ot
the City of Lubbock has approved the sale ot this land based upon the above
mentioned bid; and,
W H E R E A s, it is necessary that such property be disposed of
expediently in order to obtain the benefits of the above described bid; N 0 W,
THERE F 0 R E,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COt-MISSION OF THE CIT! OF LUBBOCK:
S:OO'l'ION 1. That the hereinafter described tract of land be sold to w. R. Slaton for the consideration of $41,600.00 to be paid as follows, $11,600.00
cash and $301000.00 secured by a Vendor's Lien Note due on or before one year from
date, bearing six per cent (6%) interest. '!'he -property is described as follows:
A tract of land out or the NE' 1/4 or the ~ 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of
Sul"\'&y-141 Block B, Lubbock County, Texas, and originally being the
north ten (10) acres more or less of Block 6 of the L. D. Kinser
Subdivision as recorded in the. Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas,
Volume 139, page 170, said tract being bound on the north by-38th
Street and on the south b,y 4oth Street and on the east b.Y Boston
Avenue and on the west by Canton Avenue and being more particularly
described as follows:
Beginning at a point which is 1350 feet south and 1350 feet
west of the NE comer of said Section 14, Block B, which is the
NE ~orner of this tract;
Thence south 605 feet to a pQint,said point being the SE corner
of·this tract;
Thence west 605 ,feet to a point, said point being the SW corner
ot this tract;
Thence north 605 feet to a point, said point being the NW corner
ot this tract;

Thence east 605 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to
execute a warranty deed conveying the above describe~ property to W'. R. Slaton and
to accept the above described cash consideration and Vendor's Lien Note iB
consideration therefor.

SECTION .). The City Secretary shall attest the deed and affix the
corporate seal of the City of LUbbock thereto.
~TION 4. That the enactment of this ordinance being imperative to
the preservation of public property and the daily operation of a municipal
department, that the provisions of this ordinance be put into full force and effect
immediately, thereby creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed
ordinances be presentedat two separate meetings be suspended and this ordinance
shall become effective upon its paesage.
