AN ORDINANCE AVI'HORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF "STOP" SIGNS BY THE CITY
TRAFFIC ENGINEER AT THE I NTERSECTIONS .AND LOCATIONS PROVIDED AND ESTABLISHED .Al-Jl)
DBSIGNATED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; REPEALING ALL PARTS OF ORDINAJCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; ProVIDING A .pENALTY; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that a public necessity exists
for the establishment of Stop Signs at the intersections and locations named in the
boqy of this ordinance; and,
1f H E R E A S, the enactment of this ordinance is necessary to preserve the
public peace and safety, requiring the suspension of all rules providing for the
several readings of an ordinance before final passage thereof, constituting an
emergeney; N 0 W, T H E R E F 0 R E,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY <DM'ISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That the City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directa
to place Stop Signs at the following intersections and locations:
Both sides of Emory Street at Detroit Avenue
Both sides of Duke Street at Detroit Avenue
Both sides of Dartmouth Street at Detroit Avenue
Both sides of Colga·te Street at Detroit Avenue
Both sides of Auburn Street at Detroit Avenue
Both sides of Bates Street at Detroit Avenue
North Side of Canton Avenue at Cornell Street
Both sides of Detroit Avenue at Cornell Street
Bo~ sides of Elgin Avenu~ at Cornell Stree~
Both sides of Flint Avenue at Cornall Street
Both sides of Gary Avenue at Cornell Street
Both sides of Elgin Avenue at Baylor Street
Both sides of Flint Avenue at Baylor Street

SECTION 2. That any person, firm or corporation violating any of the pre-
visions of Article 6701d, requiring vehicles to ob~y and abide b,r Stop Signs law-

fully erected by authorization of the governing boqy of a city, or of Ordinance No.
890 of the City of Lubbock shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceedi
Two Hundred Dollars ($200) • •
SECTION J. That all parts of ordinances conflicting with the provisions
hereof are hereby repealed insofar as such conflict exists; provided, however, that
the provisions of this ordinance shall never be construed as repealing or
superseding any ordinance authorizing the e~tablishment of traffic control signs
and devices at places and intersections not hereinabove expressly described and
defined.
SECTION 4. That the City Secretary is hereb,r authorized and directed to
cause publication of the descriptive caption of this ordinance, together with the
penalty provision, as provided by law.
SECTION 5. That the incr eased traffic conditions at the intersections and
places described in Section 1 (One) hereof requi re that this ordinance be passed
and made effective after its unanimous passage at first reading before the City
Commission for the immediate preservation of the public peace and safety, and all
rules requiring the several readings of this ordinance are hereby suspended, and
this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect as
her einabove pr~ided.
