AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SIDTION 23 OF ORDINANCE NO. 564, AS AME:NDED BY
ORDINANCE NO. l414, THEREBY CHANGING PARKING METER NOS. ll-11-7 ON THE SOUTH SIDE
OF THE 1100 BLOCK OF M\IN STREET AND J-J.4,.J.60N THE WEST SIDE OF THE 1400 BWCK
OF AVENUE ttJn , FROM ONE-NICKEL, ONE-HOUR PARKING TO 12-MINUTES FOR ONE-PENNY, 24
MINUTES FOR TWO-PENNIES OR ONE-NICKEL PARKING; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING
ORDINANCES; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
W H E R E A s, the City Commission has, as a result of changed traffic
conditions, adopted the recommendation of the City Traffic Engineer to change
certain one-hour parking meters to 24-minute parking meters; N 0 W, T H E R E F 0 RE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF L U B B 0 C K:
SECTION 1. That Section 23 of Ordinance No. 564, as amended by Oro-
inance No. 1414, is hereby a:mended so as to change and modify the leDgtb or time
parking is permitted on the South side of the 1100 BloCk of ~n Street at Meter
Location No. 11-11-7 and on the west side of the 1400 Block of Avenue •J• at
Meter Location No. J-14-16, so as to prohibit parking for a longer continuous per-
iod than twenty-four (24) minutes.
SECTION 2. That the City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and
directed to install and place in operation twelve (12)-minute, one-penny,
tventy-four (24)-minute, two-penny or one-nickel parking meters at the following
locations:
Parking Meter Location No. 11-11-7 on the south side of the 1100 Block
of Main Street. ·
Parking Meter Location No. J-14-16 on the west side of the 1400 Block
of Avenue "J". · ·
S&::TIO:B J. That that part o£ the provision of any ordinance or order
in conflict with this Ordinance is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. That ~ person, firm or corporation who shall violate, aid
or abet the violation of aey provision of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be fined in an;y sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200).
SEX:TION 5. That the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause publica
tion of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the penalty clause
as an alternative method as provided by law.
· SECTION 6. That the enactment of this Ordinance, being necessary to tb
public safet,y and to provide for a greater use of the public streets and due to
the changing traffic conditions, is declared to be an emergency measure, thereby
creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be pre-
1 sented at two (2) separate meetings ~ dispensed vith; and this Ordinance shall
be effective from the date of publication as herein provided •
