ORDINANCE NO. 1551
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHlNG LOADING ZONES (1) ON THE NORTH
SIDE OF THE 2400 BLOCK OF 19TH STREET, BEGINNING AT A POINT 75
FEET EAST OF AVENUE Y AND EXTENDING EAST A DISTANCE OF 16 FEET;
(2) ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE 1200 BLOCK OF MAIN STREET, BEGIN-
NING 10 FEET WEST OF AVENUE ~'K" AND EXTENDING WEST FOR A DIS-
TANCE OF 20 FEET; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AUTH•.
ORIZING PAINTING OF CURBS• AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, in the interest of public safety, changed ~ffic conditions.
business loading and unloading requirements make imperative immediate
changes in the establishment of freight-loading zones; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That F;reight-Loading Zones BE, and are hereby established
in the following locations:
A. On the North side of the 2400 Block of 19th Street, begin-
ning at a point 75 feet East of Avenue Y and extending
East a distance of sixteen (16} f~et.
· B. On the South side of the 1200 Block of Main Street, begin-
ning ten (10) feet We.st of Avenue K and extending West for
a distance of twenty (20) feet. ' .
SECTION 2. That that part of any ordinance or order in conflict herewith
is hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. That the Traffic Eqgineer is her.eby autbprized and directed
to cause the curbs in the above descri'ISed zones to be 'painted and such zones
plainly marked as Loading Zones.
SECTION 4. Due to the changing traffic conditions creating a hazard
injurious to the public and the public's use of the streets, the enactment of this
ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure, thereby creating a public
necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be presented at two (2)
separate Commission meetings be dispensed with; and this ordinance shall be
effective fro:rn the c;late of its passage, as provided by law.
SECTION 5. The City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to
have the descriptive caption of this ordinance published, as provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
