AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ON THE 'WEST SIDE OF THE 1200 BLOCK
OF AVENUE X BETWEEN BROADWAY AND 13TH STREETS; AND ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE 3400
BLOCK OF AVJ§ruE X BETWEEN .34TH AND .35TH STREETS; AUTHORIZING THE PLACING OF
UNIFORH SIGNS AND PAINTING OF THE CURBS; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AUTHORIZING PUBLICA-
TION OF THIS CAPTION; AND IB::LARIIIZ AN EriEBGENCY.
WHEREAs, the Cit,y Commission finds that the congestion ot
moviDg vehicntlar traffic on Avenue X requires the elimination of parki!lg in the
areas described in the caption of this ordinance, and further find8 that such
measures are naoessar.y tor the immediate preservation of the publ~c peace and
safety, constituting an emergency; N 0 w, T HE R E F 0 R E,
1E IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK;
SmTION I. The parking of vehicles is prohibited at all times:
(1) On the West side of the 1200 block of Avenue X between
Broadway and 13th Streets; and,
(2) On the East side of the ... ,3400 Block of Avenue X between
.34th and 35th Streets.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful tor any person to allow, permit or
suffer any vehicle to be parked on that portion of the streets described in
Section One (1) of this Ordinance.
SlOOTION .3. '!'he T:re.ffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to
paint the curbs and to place uniform signs at the locations described in Section
One (1) consistent with the provisions ot this Ordinance.
SECTION 4. Any person, tirm, or corporation who shall violate the
provisions of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not
exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200).
S:JOOTION 5. The fact that heavy congested trattic requires the illlnediat.
and .f'ull use ot those portions ot Avenue "X" described in Section One (1) of this
Ordinance constitutes an emergency requiring the suspension of all rules pro-
viding that no ordinance shall be enacted at the meeting of its introduction,
and such rules are suspended to preserve the public peace and safety; and this
Ordinance shall be effective from and att'r its unanimous paesage.
SECTION 6. The City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to
have the descriptive caption or this Ordinance published as provided ~ law.
