HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 1513-1953 - Establishing A No-Parking Zone On The East Side Of 500 Block Of Ave J - 12/10/1953Copy 12-15-53 to Traffic Oep • Police Chie & City Atty v ld-10 -lq':'J3 ORDINANC E NO • ....;;1•5=U;.._. __ AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHmG A NO-PARKING ZONE ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE 500 BLOCK OF AVENUE "J, 11 BEGINNING 40 FEET NORTH OF 6TH STREET AND EXTENDING NORTH 80 FEET• AUTHORIZING THE PAINTING OF CURBS AND THE ERECTION OF SIGNS; PROVIDING A PENALTY; REPEALING CONFUCTING ORDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PUB- LICATION; AND DEClARING AN EMERGENCY. \ WHEREAS, in the interest of public safety, changed trafiic conditions creating a public hazard require a No-Parking Zone to be established on the East side of the 500 Block of Avenue J, beginning 40 feet North of 6th Street ·1 and extending North 80 feet; THEREFORE, · BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK; SECTION 1, That a No-Parking Zone BE, and it is hereby established on the following described portion of street, and it sBall hereafter be unlawful for any person operating, driving or in control of a vehicle to allow, permit or sufier such vehic le to be parked in that portion of the street hereinafter described as constituting a No-Parking Zone. SECTION z. That that portion of street referred to in Section 1 {One) of this ordinance as a No-Parking Zone is as follows: A. On the East side of the 500 Block of Avenue J, beginning forty (40} feet North of Sixth Street and extending North eighty (80) feet. SECTION 3. That the Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to paint or cause to be painted the curbs and to erect signs indicating a No- Parking Zone consistent with the provisions of this ordinance, SECTION 4. That any person who shall suffer or permit any vehicle operated, driven or controlled by him to be parked in the area described in Section Z (Two) of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($ZOOJ. SECTION 5. That all portions of all other ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 6. That the City Secretary is authorized to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this ordinance, together with the penalty clause, as an alternative method provided by law, SECTION 7. That the enactment of this ordinance being necessary to the public safety and to provide a greater use of the public streets and, due to changed traffic conditions, is declared to be an emergency measure, thereby creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be presented at two separate meetings be dispensed with; and this ordinance shall be effective from the date of publicati on, as herein provided.
