AN ORDJNANCE AMENDING SECTION l3 OF ORDm.ANCE NO. 564, AS
.AMENDED, SO AS TO ADD AND JNCLUDE PARKING METER SPACE NO.
11-11•11, ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE 1100 BLOCK OF MAIN STREET;
AUTHORIZING THE TRAFFIC ENGINEER TO INSTALL A ONE NICKEL,. ONE-
HOUR PARKING METER; MODIFYING ALL CONFLICTING PARTS OF ORDI-
NANCES; PROVIDING A PENALTY, AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND
DECLARINGAN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the Freight-Loading Zone
on the South side of the 1100 Block of Main Street is no longer needed for such
purpose, it would be in the public interest to re-install a parking meter in
such space as had been occupied by such zone, and it is necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public safety and property so to do, constituting
an emergency; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That Section 23 of Ordinance No. 564, as amended, is
hereby amended so as to add and include twenty-two (Zl) feet on the South side
of the 1100 Block of Main Street, beginning at a point six (6). feet East of the
North-South alley between Main Street and Broadway and extending East a dis-
tance of twenty-two {Z.Z} feet, designated as Parking Meter Space No. 11-ll-11,
so as to prohibit parking for a longer continuous period than one hour in said
parking meter space.
SECTION z. That the Traffic Engineer is-hereby authorized and directed
to install and place in operation a one.-hour, one•nickel pa.rki'\8 meter at
Parking Meter Space No. 11-11-11.
SECTION 3. That that part of any ordinance or order in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance is hereby superseded and modified so as to con-
form and be consistent with the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. That any person, firm or corporation who shall violate, aid
or abet the violation of any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($ZOO).
SECTION s. That the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the pub•
lication of the descriptive caption of this ordinance$ tqgether with the penalty
claus~, a~ an alternative method provided by law.
SECTION 6. That the enactment of this ordinance, being necessary to
the public safety and property and to provide for a greater use of the public
streets, is declared to be an emergency measure, thereby creating a public
necessity that all rules requiring the several readings of proposed ordinances
be suspended; and this ordinance shall become effective from and after the
date of its unanimous passage on first reading • .
