ORDINANCE NO. 1506
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NO-PARKlNG ZONE ON BOTH .
SIDES OF AVENUE "A~· BEGINNING AT THE SOUTH LINE OF 28TH STREET
AND EXTENDING SOUTH TO THE NORTH LINE OF 46TH STREET; AUTHOR! ...
ZING PAINTING OF CURBS AND THE ERECTION OF SIGNS; PROVIDING A
PENALTY; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PUBLI•
CATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, in the interest of public safety, changed tra.ffic_conditions
creating a public hazard require a No~Parking Zone to be established on both
---sides of Avenue A, ·beginning at the South line of 28th Street and extending
South to the North line of 46th Street; THERE FORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That a No-Parking Zone BE, and it is hereby established
on the following described portions of street, and it shall hereafter be unlaw ..
ful for any person operating, driving or in control of a vehicle to allow,
permit or suffer such vehicle to be parked in that portion of the street herein-
after described as constituting a No .... Pa.rking Zone. ,
SECTION 2. That thQse portions of street :referred to in Section 1 {One)
of this ordinance a.s a No-Parking Zone is as follows:
A. On both sides of Avenue 11A, 11 beginning at the South line of 28th
Street and extending South to the North line of 46th Street.
SECTION 3. That the Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed
to paint or cause to be painted the curbs and to erect signs indicating a No-
Parking Zone consistent with the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. That any person who shall suHer or permit any vehicle
operated, driven or controlled by him to be parked in the area. described in
-Section 2 {Two) of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum
not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200).
SECTION 5. That all portions of all other ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. That the City Secretary is authorized to cause publication
of the descriptive caption of this ordinance, together with the penalty clause,
a.s an alternative method provided by law.
SECTION 7. That the enactment of this ordinance being necessary to
the public salety and to provide a. greater use of the public streets and, due to
changed traffic conditions. is declared to be an emergency measure, thereby
creating a. public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be
presented at two separate meetings be dispensed with; and this ordinance shall
be effective from the date of publica.ti<?n, as herein provided.
