H~1 9;r,;3a--- AN ORDINANCE ESTA~LJSHING A BUS-LOADING ZONE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE 900 BLOCK OF 13TH STREET, BEGINNING .AT TEXAS AVENUE AND EXTENDING EAST A DISTANCE OF 64 FEET; AUTHORIZING PAINTING OF CURBS !N'DICATJNG BUS STOP; REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1223, THEREBY REMOVING BUS-LOADING ZONE LOCATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE 1000 BLOCK OF 13TH STREET, BEGINNING AT A POINT 70 FEET EAST OF AVENUE "J" AND EXTENDING EAST A DISTANCE OF 45 FEETi REPEALING ALL OTHER CONFUCTnlG ORDINANCES; AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Traffic Engineer bas recom.mended certain changes in the location of uptown bus-loading zones, and public necessity and convenience require the establishment of such zones to conform to a master street-use plan for handling traffic, and the City Commission has passed the ordinances necessary to remove parking meters from the new areas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. That a bus passenger loading and unloading zone BE, and the same is hereby designated and established as follows, to-wit: A. A space on the South side of the 900 Block of 13th Street, beginnin~ at Texas Avenue and extending East sixty-four (64) feet. SECTION 2. That the City Traffic Engineer BE, and he is hereby author- ized and directed to paint the curbs and place signs designating such space as a bus passenger loading and unloading zone. SECTION 3. That Ordinance No. 1223, establishing a bus loading and unloading zone on the South side of the 1000 Block of 13th Street, beginning at a point seventy (70) feet East of Avenue J and extending East a distance of forty-five (45) feet, be expressly repealed; and that part of the provisions of any ordinance or order in conflict with this ordinance is hereby repealed. SECTION 4. That the enactment of this ordinance, being necessary to the public safety and ;o provide for a greater use of the public streets, is declared to be an emergency measure, thereby creating a public necessity that the rule requir~ng proposed ordinances to be presented at two separate meetings be dispensed with; and this ordinance shall be effective from the date of its passage, as provided by law.
