AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF 34TH STREET FROM AVENUE1'H'TO A POINT 350 FEET WEST OF THE WEST LINE OF AVENUE "H" AND ON THE WEST SlDE OF AVENUE 11H11 FROM 34TH STREET TO A POINT 350 FEET SOUTH OF THE SOUTH LINE OF 34TH STREET; AUTHORIZING THE PLACING OF UNIFORM SIGNS AND PAINTING OF THE CURBS; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF THIS CAPTION; AND DEClARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the congestion of moving vehicular traffic at the intersection of 34th Street and Av~nue H requires the elimination of parking in the areas described in the caption of this Ordinance. and further finds that such a measure is necessary for the immediate preser .. vation of the public peace and safety, constituting an emergency; N 0 W, THERE FORE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COM.MTSSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. The parking of vehicles is prohibited at all times: (1) On· the South side of 34th Street from Avenue H to a point 350 feet West of the West line of Avenue H; and, (2} On the West side of Avenue H from 34th Street to a point 350 feet South of the South line of 34th Street. SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to allow, permit or suffer any vehicle to be parked on that portion of the streets described in Section One (1) of this Ordinance. SECTION 3. The Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to paint the curbs and to place unifofm signs at the locations described in Section -one (1) consistent with the provisions of this Ordinance. SECTION 4. Any person, firm, or corporation who shall violate the pro- visions of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars {$200). SECTION 5. The fact that heavy congested traffic requires the imm.P.diate and full use of that portion of Avenue H and 34th Street described in Section One (1) of this Ordinance constitutes an emergency requiring the suspension of all rules providing that no ordinance shall be enacted at the meeting of its introduction, and such rules are suspended to preserve the public peace and safety; and this Ordinance shall be effective from and after its unanimous passage. SECTION 6. The City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to have the descriptive caption of this Ordinance published as provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
