ORDINANCE NO. 1414, THEREBY CHAKII!Il PA.BKING METE~ lm. 11-1~ and l.boJ.O..S,
ON THE NORTH SIDE OF TIE 1000 BLOCK OF MliN STRE!l', FROM OlE-NICKEL, ONE-HOUR
PARKING TO 1.2-MDmTES FOR 08-Pl!Jm!, ~MINUTES FOI\ TWO-PENNIES OR ORE-NICKEL
PARKING; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDIN.Al«}ES; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AUTHORIZING
PUBLICATION; AND DECLARI!fl AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission bas, aa a result of changed traffic
conditione, adopted the recommendation of the C~ty Traffic Engineer to change
certain oM-hour parking meters to ~nute parking :meters; NOW1 THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COJffiSSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That Section 23 of Ordinance No. 564, as amended b.Y
Ordinance No. 1414, ie hereby amended eo aa to change and modity the length ot
time parking is permitted on the North aide of the 1000 Block of Mlin Streei,
in Parking MBter Spaoea Jioa. 11-lCl-6 and l.W.0-8, so as to prohibit parking tor
a longer continuous period than twenty-four (24) mimltea.
SECTION 2. That the City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and
directed to ill8tall and place in operation twelve (12)-minuta, one-peDD71 twenty-four (24)-minute, tvo-pem:ry or one-nickel pa~ mtere at the following
locations:
Parldllg Meters Spaces Hoa. 11-10-6 a.nd 11-lG-.8 on
the Nor\b aide of the 1000 Block of Main Streei.
SEC'l"!Oll 3. Tbat that part or the provision of &D7 ordinance or order in
conflict v1 th this Ordina.nce ia hereby repealed.
SB:O'l'ION 4. That aey person, firm or corporation who shall violate, aid
or abEtt the violation of any provision of this Ordinance aball, upon conviction,
be fined in any sua not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars (1200).
SECTION s. That the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause publlcati
of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the penalty clause, aa
an alternative Dl9thod as provided b;y law.
SECTION 6. Tbat the enactment of this Ordinance, being neoes8&17 to the
public safety and to provide for a greatet-uae of the public streets and due to
the cba~ing traffic conditiona, ia declared to be an emergency measure, thereby
creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be
presented at two (2} separate JAeetings be dispensed vi th; and this Ordina.nce shall
be ef'f'active fl"'JR tbe date of' publication aa herein provided.
