AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NO-PAHKING ZONE ON THE WEST SIDE OF
AVENUE •a•, BEGINNOO AT MA.IN STREET AND mENDING TO BHOADWAY; AUTHORIZING
PAIN'l'Itli OF CURBS AND THE ERIDTION OF SIGHS; POOVIDING A PENALTY; REPE.&LlBG CON-
FLICTING ORDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND IIOOLARING .A1f E~Y.
WHEREAS, in the interest of public safety, changed tratf'ic conditione
c"ating a public haaard require a N~arkillg Zona to be established on tbe West
side of Avenue R, beginning at Main Street and extending to Broadway; THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY Of LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That a No-Parking Zone BE, and is hereby established on
the following described portion of etreet, and 1 t ahall hereafter be unlawful tor
any person operating, driving or in control ot a vehicle to allow, permit or
sutter such vehicle to be parked in the portion ot street hereinafter described as
conati tuti.Dg a No..Parking Zone.
SECTION 2. That tbat)portion of street referred to in Section 1 (One)
ot this Ordinance as a No-Parking Zone ia as tollovaa
On the West side of Avenue R, begilllling at Main Street
and extending to Broadway.
SECTION .3. That the Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed
to paint, or cause to be painted, the curbs and to erect signs indice.tillg a
No-Parki.Dg Zone coneietent vi th the provisions ot thie Ordinance •
SECTION 4. That a~ person vho shall suf"fer or permit aD.7 vehicle
operated driven or controlled by him to be parked in the area deecribed in
Section 2 (Two) of this OrdiDanoe shall, upon conviction, be fined in any SUDl not
exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200).
SICTII)N 5. That all portionsot other ordinances in conflict vith the
provieioDS of this Ordinance are hereby repeal.ed.
SCJ'l'DI 6. That the Cit;y Secretary is hereby authorized to cause
publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance, together with the penalty
clauee, as an alternative method provided b;y lav •
SECTION 7. That the enactment of this Ordinance, being -cesea.ry to the
public satet;y and to provide for a greater uee of the public streets, and due to
the changed traffic condi tiona is declared to be an emergency measure thereby
creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be
presented at tvo (2) separate 118atings be d!apensed with, and thie Ordinance ehall
be effective tram the date of publioa tion as herein provided. ·
