G-10-2, G-10-4 AND G-10-6 ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE 1000 BLOCK OF AVENUE "G11, FROM ONE-NICKEL,. ONE .. HOUR PARKING TO 12-MINUTE, ONE-PENNY • 24-MINUTE, TWO-PENNY OR ONE-NICKEL PARKING; REPEALING ALL CON- FUCTING ORDll\TANCES; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Commission has, as a result of changed traffic •conditions, adopted the recommendations of the City Traffic Engineer to change certain one-hour parking meters to 2.4-minute parking meters, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE. CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. That Section 23 of Ordinance No. 564, as amended by Ordinance No. 1414, is hereby amended so as to change and modify the length of time parking is permitted on the south side of the 800 Block of Tenth Street in Parking Meter Spaces Nos. 10-8-1, 10-8-3, and 10-8-5, and on the west side of the 1000 Block of Avenue G in Parking Meter Spaces Nos. G-10-2, G-10-4, and G-10-6, so as to prohibit parking for a longer continuous period than twenty-four (24) minutes. SECTION 2. That the City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to install and place in operation twelve (12}-minute, one-penny, twenty- four {24)-minute, two-penny or one-nickel parking meters at the following locations: Meters Nos. 10-8-1, 10-8-3, 10-8-5, G-10-2, G-10-4 and G-10-6. SECTION 3. That part of the provision of any ordinance or order in con- flict with this ordinance is here by repealed. SECTION 4. Any person, ·firm. or corporation who shall violate, aid or abet the violation of any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200}. SECTION 5. The City Secretary is hereby directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this ordinance together with the penalty clause, as an alternative method as provided by law. SECTION 6. That the enactment of this ordinance, being necessary to the public safety and to provide for a greater use of the public streets and due to the changing traffic • conditions, is declared to be an emergency measure, thereby creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be presented at two (2) separate meetings be dispensed with; and this ordinance shall be effective from the date of publication as herein provided.
