Insp , c~ty Atty c-~t 7 T 1:!-··sonnel Uff'ice , ' 01--09-\ 9'33 ORDINANCE NO. 1424 AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF INSPECTOR OF UNFffiED PRESSURE VESSELS; AUTHORIZING EMPLOYMENT OF SUCH QUALIFIED INSPECTORS; PROVIDING METHOD AND CONDITIONS OF SALA.RY PAY- MENT; AND DECLARING AN E.MERGENCY. WHEREAS, local industries engaged in the business of manufacturing unfired pressure vessels for distribution in this area, Texas and other states are required to have their product inspected and stamped by qualified inspec .. tors, and arrangements will be made by affected industries as herein provided so that such inspectors will be provided without cost to the City; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. The office of Inspector of Unfired Pressure Vessels is hereby created. The City Manager is authorized to employ one or more duly qualified inspectors as needed by local industries for the sole purpose of mak- ing inspections of unfired pressure v essels; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that the industries served by such inspectors shall pay to the City of Lubbock in advance not less than twelve (12) months' salary of such inspectors plus , $ 25.00 per month overhead charge, toget her with such incidental char- ges as may be required to save the City harmless from any expense and liability of every nat ure relating to such employment, SECTION z. The fact that one or more such inspectors are needed immediately in connection with the manufacture and use of vessels to contain and be used in the transportation of highly combustible liquids and gases, the employment of which involves public safety and the daily operation of the City's business, creates an emergency; and this ordinance shall become effective July 15. AND IT .IS SO ORDERED.
