AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDlNANGE NO. 564, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 1212,
THEREBY ADDING SECTION 5-C TO ORDINANCE NO. 564 PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF
ONE-CENT TWELVE-MINUTE, TWO-CENT OR 0~-NICKEL TWENTY-FOUR-MINUTE PARKING ZONES;
ADDING SECTION 6~ SETTING FORTH THE REGULATIONS FOR ONE-CENT TWELVE-MINUTE,
TWO-CENT OR ONE-NICKEL TWENTY-FOU~MINUTE PARKING METERS; AMENDING SECTION 23 SO AS
TO INCLUDE THE EAST SIDE OF THE 1400 BLOCK OF AVENUE ltJtt AS A ONE-OENT TWELVE-MINro.'E

J-14-1, J-:U.,..3 AND J-].4,..5 TO BE CHANGED FROM ONE-HOUR PARKING TO ONE-CENT TWELVE-
MINUTE, TWO-CENT OR ONE-NICKEL TWENTY-FOUR-MINUTE PARKING; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION;
PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKs
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 564, as amended by Ordinance No. 1212, is
hereby amended by adding Section 5-C which shall read as followss
Seotion ~. That twnty-four-minute parking zones are hereby
created and that twenty-four-minute parking meters shall be so
situated as to display a signal showing legal parking with
adjacent parking spaces, which parking spaces shall be identified
and designated by proper markings as herein provided. &.ch
parking mater shall, by mechanical device, begin and continue
in operation from the time of the deposit of two (2) one-cent
or one (1) five-cent United States of America coins for a
period of' twenty-four mimtes. If' a one-cent United States of
America coin is deposited in said meter, it shall begin and
contim.te in operation for a period of twelve minutes and at the
expiration of such time, if an additional coin is not deposited,
such expiration shall constitute a parking violation; in any
event, twenty-four minutes shall be the maximum allowable time
at\f vehicle shall be parked in such space without being in
violation of the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 2. That Ordinance No. 564, as amended by Ordinance No. 1212, is
ereby amended by adding Section ~ which shall read as follows:
Section 6-C. That when any vehicle shall be parked in the
parking space, as herein provided, alongside of, adjacent to
and adjoining a one-cent twlve-mimte, two-cent or one-nickel
twenty-folll'--minute parking meter which is located under the
prOVisions of this ordinance or by an amendment here~, tite
<>wn~r, operator, manager or drivc:rof said vehicle shall, upon
~~t#uJiaid parking space, immadis,te4' deposit two cent s or
one nickel in coins of the United States of America in the park-
ing meter alongside, adjacent to or adjoining said parking space,
and said parking space may then be lawfully used by such vehicle
for the purpose of parking during the parking limit of twenty-four
minutes provided for by this ordinance for the. portion of the
street on which said parking apace ia located, provided however,
that one-cent piece or penny may be used where 't?he person so
depositing one oent limits the time of hia parking to not more
than twelve minutes.

SECTION 3. That Section 23 (twenty-three) of Ordinance No. 564, as
amended by Ordinanoe No. 1212, be amended to include the following one-cent twelve-
minute, two-cent or one-nickel twenty-four-minute parkicg meter spaces:
On the East side of the 1400 Block of Avenue "J"
Meters Nos . J-14otl, J-14-3 and J-14-5.

SECTION 4. That the City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized .to ohatlge
the above listed meters from one-nickel one-hour parking to one-cent twelve-nd.rl,lte,
tw9-cent or one-nickel tventy-four-nd.nute parking.
SECTION 5. That the City Secretary is hereby authorized to publish the
descriptive caption, together with the penalty clause of this ordinance as provided
by law.
SECTION 6. That all provisions or portions of any ordinance in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby modified and shall be construed
consistent with the provisions of this ordinance, provided that nothing herein
shall ever be construed as affecting any part of Ordinance No. 564, except as
herein expressly provided.
SECTION 7. Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any
provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in ~ sum not exQ~ed
ing $200.00.
SECTION 8. That the enactlllent of this OrdinailCf.', being necessary to the
public safety and to provide for a greater use ~f the public streets, is declared
to be an emergency measure, thereby creating a public necessity that the rule
requiring proposed ordinances to be presented at two (2) separate tooetings be
dispensed with, and this ordinance shall become effective from the date or its
publication as herein provided.
