ORDINANCE NO. _.14a.04z:z.---
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PLACING OF STOP SIGNS ON
BOTH SIDES OF 13TH STREET AT AVENUE F; ON BOTH SIDES OF 14TH
STREET AT AVENUE F; AND ON BOTH SIDES OF AVENUE FAT MAIN
STREET; REQUIRING ALL VEHICLES TO STOP AT SUCH SIGNS; REPEAL-
ING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDA.INEI.) BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That the City Traffic Engineer BE, and he is hereby
directed to cause stop signs to be placed at locations set out in Section 2 (Two)
of this Ordinance. The stop signs shall be placed on the right side of the
street within three (3} feet of the side curb and fifteen (15) feet from the curb
of the intersecting street, or if not practicable that the sign be placed at this
location, then it shall be placed at the nearest practicable location to attract
the attention of the approaching operators of vehicles. .
SECTION 2. That the locations referred to in Section 1 (One) of this
Ordinance are as follows:
On both sides of 13th Street at Avenue F
On both sides of 14th Street at Avenue F
On both sides of Avenue F at Main Street
SECTION 3. That the driver, operator or any person in control of any
vehicle approaching such stop signs as designated in Section 2 (Two) of this
Ordinance shall completely stop such vehicle and shall yield the right of way
to other vehicles which have entered the intersection or which are approach-
ing so closely as to constitute a hazard.
SECTION 4. That any Ordinance in conflict herewith is hereby repealed.
SECTION 5,. That attention is directed to the obedience to traffic control
devices required in Article 3, Section l.t and to the penalty provided in Article
12, Section 2 of Ordinance No. 890.
SECTION 6. That the enactment of this Ordinance, being imperative to
the preservation of public peace, health and safety of the City of Lubbock and
the inhabitants thereof and to provide a greater use of the public streets, that
the provisions of this Ordinance be put in full force and effect, thereby creat-
ing a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be pre-
sented at two {2} separate meetings be dispensed with, and this Ordinance shall
be effective from the date of publication, as herein provided.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
