ORDINANCE NO. 1361
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23, SECTION 8, SECTION 15,
AND SECTION 22 OF ORDINANCE NO. 564, THEREBY CREATING CERTAIN
ONE-HOUR PARALLEL PARKING ZONES AND CERTAIN 24-MINUTE PARA-
LLEL PARKING METER ZONES; AUTHORIZING INSTALLATION OF CERTAIN
PARKING METERS; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AUTHORI-
ZING PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has adopted the r ecommendations of
the City Traffic Engineer, making certain changes in parking on certain streets
in the City of Lubbock; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That Section 23 of Ordinance No. 564 be amended so as to
include the following:
A. That parking meter zones are hereby designated and established in
the City of Lubbock, and said parking meter zones shall embrace
the following sections of streets;
{1) The West side of Avenue L between 13th St reet and 14th Street.
{2) The East side of Avenue L between 13th Street and 14th Street.
(3) The North side of 13th Street in the 1300 block between Avenue L
and the alley West of Avenue L.
{4) The South side of 13th Street in the 1300 block between Avenue L
and the alley West of Avenue L.
SECTION z. That the City Traffic Engineer BE, and he is hereby authori-
zed and directed to cause the following numbered meters to be placed in the
following locations:
A. In the location set out in Section 1, A (1), the following meters are to
be placed: Meters Nos. L-13-lZ, L-13-14, L-13-18, L-13-20,
L-13-2, L-13-4, L-13-6, and L-13-8. .
B. In the location set out in Section 1, A(2), the following meter is ·to
be placed: Meters No •. L-13-17.
C. In the location set out in Section 1, A (3), the following meters are to
be placed: Meters Nos. 13-13-Z, 13-13-4, 13-13-6, 13-13-8, and
13-13-10.
D. In the location set out in Section 1, A (4), the following meters are to
be placed: Meters Nos. 13-13-1, 13-13-3, 13-13-5, 13-13-7, and
13-13-9.

SECTION 3. That Section 8 of Ordinance No. 564 be amended as follows:
That in the following parking meter zones all vehicles shall be parked
with both right wheels of the vehicle within eighteen (18) inches of the
curb:
(1) The West side of Avenue L between 13th and 14th Streets.
(Z) The East side of Avenue L between 13th and 14th Streets.
(3) The North side of 13th Street in the 1300 block, between Avenue L
and the a.U,ey West of Avenue L.
(4) The South side of 13th Street in the 1300 block, between Avenue L
and the alley West of Avenue L.
(5) The North side of 14th Street between Texas Avenue and Avenue J.
(6) The South side of 14th Street between Texas Avenue and Avenue J.
(7) The South side of Main Street between Avenue K and Avenue L.
SECTION 4. That Section 15 of Ordinance No. 564 be amended so as to
include the following:
A. That it shall be unlawful and an offense for any person, firm or cor-
poration operating a vehicle to allow such vehicle to remain standing or
parked upon any of the following numbered meter areas for a longer
continuous period than sixty (60) minutes at a time between the hours of
9:00A.M. and 6:00 P.M. of any day except Sundays and holidays1
Meters Nos. L-13-12, L-13-14, L-13-18, L-13-20, L-13-17,
13-13-6, 13-13-8, 13-13-10, 13-13-5, 13-13-7, and 13-13-9.
B. That it shall be unlawful and an offense for any person, firm, or cor-
poration operating a vehicle to permit such vehicle to remain standing or
parked upon any of the following numbered parking meter spaces for a
longer continuous period than twenty-four {24) minutes at a time between
the hours of 9:00A.M. and 6:00P.M. of any day except Sundays and
hoUdays:
Meters Nos. L-13-Z, L-13-4, L-13-6, L-13-8, 13-13-2,
13-13-4, 13-13-1, and 13.-13-3.
SECTION 5. That any provision of any ordinance or order conflicting with
this ordinance is hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. The City Secretary is hereby directed to cause publication
of the descriptive caption of this ordinance, together with the penalty herein
provided, as an alternative provided by law.

SECTION 7. That Section 2.2 of Ordinance No. 564 be amended as follows:
That any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any of the provi-
sions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not
to exceed Two Hundred Dollars {$2.00).
SECTION 8. Due to the changing traffic conditions creating a hazard
injurious to the public and the public's use of the streets, the enactment of
this Ordinance is d~clared to be an emergency measure, thereby creating a
public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be _presented
at two (2) separate meetings be dispensed with, and this Ordinance shall be
effective from the date of its passage, as provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED. -
