AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PLACING OF STOP SIGNS AT
CERTAIN INTERSECTIONSi REQUIRING VEHICLES TO STOP AT SUCH SIGNS;
REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; PROVIDING A PENALTY;
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That the City Traffic Engineer BE, and he is hereby authori·
zed and directed to place signs requiring all vehicles to stop at the intersections
listed in Section 2 (Two) of this ordinance.
SECTION 2. The intersections referred to in Section 1 (One) of this
ordinance are as follows:
41'st Street at Avenue D
36th Street at A venue-W
36th Street at Orlando Avenue
Elgin Avenue at 26th Street
Elgin Avenue at 28th Street
Avenue L at 25th Street
18th Street at Avenue N
Ninth Street at Avenue K
Avenue K at Seventh Street
Boston Avenue at Amherst Street
Boston Avenue at Baylot Street
Boston Avenue at Cornell Street
Spruce Avenue at 14th Street
14th Street at Vanda Avenue
14th Street at Quirt Avenue
Teak Avenue at 14th Street
Redbud Avenue at 14th Street
14th Street at Redbud Avenue
14th Street at Spruce Avenue
Ninth Street at Avenue K
SECTION 3. That the driver, operator or any person in control of any
vehicle approaching such stop sign as designated in Section 2 (Two) of this
ordinance shall completely stop such vehicle and shall yield the right-of-way
to other vehicles which have entered the intersection or which are approaching
so closely as to constitute a hazard.
SECTION 4. That any ordinance or parts of any ordinance in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5. That any person, firm, partnership or corporation who shall
violate any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and, upon conviction thereon, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed Two
Hundred Dollars ($ZOO).

SECTION 6. That the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause publica-
tion of the caption of this ordinance, as permitted by law.
SECTION 7. That the enactment of this ordinance, being imperative for
the preservation of the public peace, health and safety of the City of Lubbock
and the inhabitants thereof and to provide a greater use of the public streets,
that the provisions of this ordinance be put into full force and effect, thereby

creating a public necessity that the · rule requiring proposed ordinances to be
p resented at two (Z) separate meetings be dispensed with, and this ordinance
shall be effective from the date of publication as herein provided.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
