AN ORDINANCE REVOKING THE PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 690,
FINALLY PASSED MARCH 25, 1943, BEING ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE
CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A DEPARTMENT OF MUNICIPAL GOVERN-
MENT TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK .TO BE KNOWN AS THE DEPARTMENT OF
RECREATION; CREATING A RECREATION COUNCIL AND PRESCRIBING ITS
DUTIES AND PROVIDING FOR FINANCING THE DEPARTMENT. 11
, WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that most of the recreational acti-
1 Y vities and equipment of the Department of Recreation are on City Parks, which
results in a duplication of efforts between the Department of Recreation and the
City P&rks Commission• and whereas, such duplication of efforts is not econo-
mical and creates problems in coordination of progr~ms in its parks and play-·,
groundsj and whereas, the Department of Recreation recommended this change
and the City Commission finds that it will be to the best interest of the general
public and the City of Lubbock's recreational programs to abolish the Depart-
ment of Recreation; THEREFORE•
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMlSSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That.Qrdinance No. 690, finally passed March 25, 1943,
being entitled: "An ordinance creating and establishing a Department of Muni-
cipal Gover nment to the City of Lubbock to be known as the Department of
Recreation; creating a Recreation Council and prescribing its duties and provid-
ing for financing the Department11 is hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION z. Upon final passage of this Ordinance repealing the provis-
ions of Ordinance No. 690, the City Secretary is authorized to write in ink ,Upon
the margin of the record of Ordinance No •. 690 that the same has been repealed,
together with the numbe;r of this repealing ordinance.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
