HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 1347-1953 - Establishing A Loading Zone On N Side Of 800 Block Of 9Th St. - 03/12/19530 '· oa-12-l.9'5.3 ORDINANCE NO~ 1347 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING LOADING ZONES ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE 800 BLOCK OF ~INTH STREET, BEGINNING AT THE NORTH-SOUTH ALLEY AND EXTENDING WEST A DISTANCE OF 42 FEET; ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE 2400 BLOCK OF 14TH STREET, BEGINNING AT A POINT 36 FEET EAST OF COLLEGE AVENUE AND EXTENDING EAST A DISTANCE OF 21 FEET; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PAINTING OF CURBS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, in the interest of public safety, changed traffic conditions, business loading and unloading requirements making imperative immediate changes in the establishment of freight loading zones; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SEā‚¬TION 1. That freight loading zones be, and are hereby established at the following locations: A. On the North side of the 800 Block of Ninth Street, beginning at the North-South alley in that block and extending West a distance of 42 feet. B. On the North side of the 2400 Block of 14th Street, beginning at a point 36 feet East of College Avenue and extending East a distance of 21 feet. SECTION 2. That part of any Ordinance or Order in conflict herewith is hereby repealed. SECTION 3. That the Traffic Engineer is hereqy authorized and directed to cause the curbs in the above described zones to be painted and such zones plainly marked as a loading zone. SECTION 4. Due to the changing traffic conditions creating a hazard injurious to the public and the public's use of the streets, the enactmentoot this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure thereby creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be presented at two (2) separate meetings be dispensed 'With, and this Ordinance shall be effective from the date of its passage as provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDEBED.
