HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 1320-1953 - Amending Sec 23 Of Ordinance 564 - 01/08/1953c ORDINANCE NO. ~320 ----- AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23 OF ORDINANCE NO. 564, THEREBY CHANGING CERTAIN PARKING METERS NOS. 11-8-16 AND 1.1-8-18 FROM ONE-HOUR PARKING TO TWENTY- FOUR-MINUTE PARKING; PROVIDING A PENALTY; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Commission has adopted recommendation of the City Traffic Engineer in changing certain parking meters from One-hour parking to Twenty-four-minute parking;·an~, WHEREAS, the City Commission has passed certain ordinances designating those meters as One-hour Meters and the need exists to facilitate the public's use of the streets to change such One-hour Parking Meters to Twenty-four-minute Parking Meters; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. That Section 23 of Ordinance No. 564 be amended as follows: Twenty-four-minute Parking Zone, Parallel Parking-Meter spaces Nos. 11-8-16 and 11-8-18, located at the front of 810 Main Street. SECTION 2. That the City Traffic Engineer be, and he is hereqy autho and directed to cause the follwing numbered parking meters to be changed from One-nickel, One-hour Parking to One-penny, Twelve-minute; Two-pennies or One- nickel, Twenty-four-minute Parking: 11-8-16 and ll-8-18. SECTION 3. That part of any provision of a~ ordinance or order con- flicting with this Ordinance is hereb.y repealed. SECTION 4. The City Secretar,y is hereb,y directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the penalty herein provided as an alternative as provided by law. SECTION 5. Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in any sum not to exceed $200.00. SECTION 6. That the enactment of this Ordinance, being necessary to the public safety and to provide for a greater use of the public streets, is deQlared to be an emergency measure, thereby creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be presented at two (2) separate mee~ ings be dispensed with and this Ordinance shall be effective from date of publ1oa- tion as herein provided.
