AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23 OF PARKING METER ORDI-
NANCE NO. 564 SO AS TO INCLUDE THAT PART OF THE EAST SIDE OF
AVENUE 11 L11 BEGINNING AT THE EAST-WEST ALLEY BETWEEN MAIN

PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY; AND PROVIDING THAT THE CITY SECRETARY
CAUSE PUBLICATION OF THE DESCRIPTIVE CAPTION OF THIS ORDINANCE.
TOGETHER WITH THE PENALTY CLAUSE. AS PROVIDED BY LAW; AND
DE CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission finda it to be in the public interest that
the existing bus -loading zone on the East side of Avenue L, as heretofore
established by Ordinance No. 1285,be abolished and parallel parking be provi-
ded in said area; and,
WHEREAS, the need for one-hour parking meters exists; THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That Section 23 of Parking Meter Ordinance No. 564 and
. ·Ordinance No. 878 are hereby amended so as to change and modify the parking
on the street hereinafter referred to with the following provisions:
(a) That a Parking -Meter Zone is hereby designated and established in
the City of Lubbock, Texas; said Parking-Meter Zone to embrace that part of
the street hereinafter designated, which shall limit the time of parking as
follows, to -wit:
(l) ONE-HOUR PARKING ZONE--PARALLEL PARKING.
All the parking spaces numbered L-ll-3t L-11-5, and L-11-7,
which parking-meter spaces are situated along the following area:
BEGU'iNING on the East side o£ Avenue L at the East-West
alley between Main Street and Broadway in the ll•OO Block:
Thence North a distance of 100 feet.
SECTION 2. That all provisions or portions thereof in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, particularly Ordinance No.
1285 is hereby in all things repealed; provided nothing herein shall ever be
construed as repealing any part of Ordinance No. 5.64 and Ordinance No. 878
except as herein expressly provided.

SECTION 3. That the office in charge of traffic matters is hereby author-
ized and directed to place parking meters indicating the time designated on that
portion of the street designated in Section 1 (One) of this ordinance, and they
are further directed to place lines indicating the kind of parking provided for
.. in that part of the street designated in Section 1 (One) of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. That any person, firm or corporation who shall violate,
aid or abet the violation of any provision of this ordinance and Ordinance No.
564 and Ordinance No. 878 which it amends, shall, upon conyiction, be fined
in any sum not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200).
SECTION 5. That the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause publica-
tion of t h.e,;..1caption of this ordinance, together with the penalty clause, as an
alternative method of publication, as provided by law.
SECTION 6. That the enactment of this ordinance being necessary to
the public safety and to provide for a greater use of the public streets, it is
declared to 1:2 an emergency measure, thereby creating a public necessity
that the rule requiring proposed ordinance.s to be presented at two (2) separ-
ate meetings be dispensed with, and this ordinance be passed by unanimous
vote at the meeting of its introduction.
This ordinance shall be in force and effect following the first reading
and adoption.
