ORDINANCE NO. 1224
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23 OF ORDlNANCE NO. 564; AND .A:MENDING
ORDINANCE 1121; ESTABLISHING PARALLEL PARKING ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF 15TH STREE:l'
BETWEEN TEXAS AVENUE AND AVENUE "J''; REPEALlNG ALL CONFLICTlNG ORDDTANCES; PRO-
VIDING A PENALTY; AND DECLA.RDTG AN EMERnENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has, as result of changed traffic conditions
adopted recommendation of the City Traffic Engineer to establish parallel parking
on the south side of 15th Street between Texas Avenue and Avenue "J"; NOV1, THERE-
FORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: ~ :0 SECTION 1. That Section 23 of Ordinance No. 564 and Ordinance No. 1121 ~ are hereby amended so as to change and modifY the parking on the south side of
~/1/P. ,fe 15th Street between Texas Avenue and Avenue ltJtt \.Si th the following provis ions:
1.7 A Parking Meter Zone is hereby designated and established
(0 I in the City of Lubbock; said Parking Meter Zone shall

embrace that part of the Street hereinafter designated which
shall limit the time and manner of parking as follows, to-wit:
ONE-HOUR, ONE-NICKEL PARKThTG--ARALLEL PARKJNG: The
south side of 15th Street between Texas Avenue and
Avenue 1tJU.
SECTION 2. The City.Traffic Engineer. is hereby authorized and directed
to mark the streets designating the manner of parking provi.ded on that part of the
Street referred to in Section 1 (One) of this O~inance.
SECTION 3. That part of the provision of any ordinance or order in con-
flict ~dth this Ordinarlo~ is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate, aid or
abet the violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall, upon conyiction, be
fined in any sum not to exo,ed Two Hundred and N0/100 ($200.00) Dollars.
SECTION 5. The City Secretar.y is hereby directed to cause publication
of the descriptive caption of this OrdinanQe together with the penalty clause as
an alternative method as provided by law.
SECTION 6. That the enactment of this Ordinance, being necessary to the
public safety and to provide for a greater use of the public streets and due to
the changing traffic conditions, is declared to be an emergency measure, thereby
creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to-'be
presented at two (2) separate meetings be dispensed with and this Ordinan~ shall
be effective, from the date of publication as herein provided.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.

passed b.Y the City Commission on this 13th day of November ·---' 1952, by
