AN ORDJNANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSWG A PORTION OF OLD AVENUE "A" OR ASH
AV~UE, BEING THE SOUTH END OF SUCH AVENUE :m THE 2600 BLOCK THEREOF DOWN TO THE
MAIN L:WE OF THE FORT WORTH AND DENVER RAILWAY COMPANY FOR A STATED CONSIDERATION
OF $500.00 TO PAY TOWARD EXPENSE OF A NEW EXIT ON AVENUE ttAt~ AND AUTHORIZING AND
DIRIDTING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO EXFX;UTE A QUimCLAlM DEED TO LYMAN C.

;, 'J 1 WHEREAS, the City Com.'llission of the City of Lubbock finds that in the
/),u4-' f 1" course of highway development and changes and alterations made and to be made on

. ew Avenue tt An in the City of Lubbock that old Avenue tt A tr, now known as Ash
Avenue, in the South end of the 2600 Block of such Avenue is no longer needed for
street or any other public purpose and is not now being used for any such purpose;
and
WHEREAS, the new Avenue "A" takes the place of and can completely serve
that portion of old Avenue ttAn, or Ash Avenue, herein closed and abandoned, and it
being further found that there is need of a new exit from Avenue "A lt East in the
proximity of such closed portion, and Lyman c. Veaze~ being the abutting proper~:f
owner, has proposed a consideration of Five Hundred and N0/100 ($500.00) Dollars
to apply toward the expense of such ne" exit of Avenue "A", and it is found to be
in the public interest if the same be abandoned and closed; THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That portion in the South end of the 2600 BloCk of old
Avenue "A't, now designated as Ash Avenue, as herein described by metes and bounds
is hereby abandoned and closed, said description all of which is lying and being
situate in Lubbo<*, GI:.ubb:pck County 1 Texaf;{being as follows, to-wit:
BEGINNING at a point 609.4 feet South of an iron pipe set for
the center of the west line of Section Five (5), Block "B", Lub-
bock County, Texas, said point being the intersection of the
centerline of the main line of the Fort Worth and Denver Railway
Company and said west line of Section Five (5); THENCE North
310 feet along the said west line of Section Five (5); THENCE
East Ten (10) feet; THENCE South to the said centerline of the
main line; THENCE North 71° 37' Wost to the POINT OF BEGmNING.
SECTION 2. That for and in consideration of Five Hundred and N0/100
($500.00) Dollars Cash in hand paid to the City of Lubbock b,y ~man c. Veazey
for the execution of a quitclaim deed to all of the right, title and interest whid.1
the City of Lubbock has in and to such above described tract, such consideration
to be used toward the expense of the new Avenue "A" exit on the North of such
closed tract, the Mayor of the City of Lubbock is hereby authorized and directed
to execute a quitclatm deed covering such above described property for the herein-
above mentioned consideration.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
