ORDINANCE NO. 1234 ,
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING AND SETTING ASIDE FIFTY THOU
SAND DOLLARS ($5Q, 000) OUT OF THE LIBRARY BOARD FUND FOR PAY
MENT TO ACCOUNof OF THE PARK CGMMISSION FOR USE OF AND
DEPLETION OF PARK COMMISSION lAND ASSETS, FOR BENEFIT OF
LIBRARY IMPROVEMENTSl AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, on June 12, 1952 the City Commission entered into written
agreement with the Park Commission, with approval of the Library Board, to
secure the South 160 Feet of the tract of land constituting McCrummen 'Park,
and which acquired said tract and its use for construction of the proposed
library building and which agreement made provision for compensating the
physical assets of the Park Commission in the manner therein providedj and,
WHEREAS, the Park Commission is in immediate need of such fund to
re p lace said area to be substantially destroyed for park purposes by immediate
construction of the library building, so that other and additional lands may be
acquired and improvements made for park purposes by the Park Commission,
creates an emergency requiring that this Ordinance become effective on one (1)
reading, the same being an appropriation ordinance and within the Charter
provisions J THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of the Library Bond
Fund the sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50, 000). which shall be paid to and
made available to the Park Commission for the purposes stated.
SECTION 2. The Park Commission being in immediate need of said
funds for the purposes stated in ihe preamble of this ordinance creates an
emergency, and this being an appropriation ordinance within the Charter pro
visions, all rules requiring reading more than one (1) time are hereby sus
pended, and this ordinanc_e shall become effective June 12, 1952..
AND IT 1S SO ORDERED.
On motion of Commissioner Carpenter , seconded by Commis-
sioner Thomas , the foregoing Ordinance was unanimously
pa.ss.~d by the follow~g vote of all members of the City Conimission present,
