HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 1226-1952 - Repealed By Ordinance 4656 - 06/12/1952.,. 1226 ).--· .· ~ t -~ ' .... ) 'fv { L_ Repealed by Ordinance No. 4656 ' ~--I,_, II AN ORDINA..liCE AUTHOIU:ZING REr~OVAL OF CERTAIN PARKING METERS, AMENDING SECTION TVIENTY•THREE (23) OF ORDINANCE 564; ESTABLISHiliD A PARKING METER ZONE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THIRTEENTH (13th) STREET, BEGIUNING AT THE WEST LINE OF I <-b ..-/3 lTEXAS AVENUE AND EXTENDING WEST A DISTANCE OF SIXTY FEET (60'); PROVIDING FOR c.~9:?rl ;;-ONE (l) HOUR PARALLEL PARKING; AUTHORIZ.ING PLACING OF PARKING IVIETERS IN SAID Z.ONE; ~-~PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND REPEALING ALL,CO!IFL!CTII«l ORDINANCES. , . . ~f_.'..,.e.fk9.f• WHEREAS, the City Commission has adopted the reeonunendation of the City .o Traffic Engineer in re-establishing a bus loading zone on the south side of Thir· eenth (13th) Street beginning at the alley bet,veen Texas Avenue and Av.enue J and xtending west a distance of thirty feet (30'), and in connection therewith it is .ecessary to remove certain parking meters; and, WHEREAS, the City Commission has passed certain ordinances and resolu· ions establishi~ and designating a passenger loading zone on the south side of hirteanth (13th) Street, bagixminei at the west line of Texas Avenue and extend-ng west a distance or sixty feet l60t) for the purpose of providing an area to ·acilitate orr-street facilities in the interest of public necessity and conven· ence; and WHEREAS, the said passenger loading zone needs to be relocated; NOW, 'HEREFORE, IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKt SECTIONtl. That the Traffic Engineer be, and he hereby is authorized o cause due removal of parking mater No. 1~·10•13. ~ . SECTION 2. The parking meter authorized to be removed' by the provision .£ Section One (l) of this Ordinance, after all money contained in the meter has een duly checked and aecountad for, shall be reconditioned and renumbered tor use .t other locations. SECTION 3. Section Twenty-Three (2.3) of parking meter Ordinance No. 564 s hereby amended so as to change and modify the parking on the streets hereinafter ·eferred to with the following provisions:-A. A parking mater zone is hereby designated and established in the City of Lubbock, texas; said parking meter zone shall embrace that part of the streets har.einatter designated which shall limit the time or parking as follows, to-witt (1) One hour parking--parallel parldngl The south side or Thirteenth (13th) Street, beginning at the west line ot Texas Avenue and.extending west a distance or sixty {60) teet. SECTION 4• The City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to lace parking meters Nos. 13•10-Ql, 13·10-03 and 13-10-05 on that portion at the , ' .. treat designated in Section !fhree~~))of this Ordinance; said parking motors :esignating the kind of parking proVided on that part of the street designated in ection 'l'ti:ee {3) or this Ordinance, and the City Traffic Engineer is further author-zed and directed to place lines indicating the kind at parking provided tor therei SECTION 5. SECTION 6. ~ person, firm or corporation who shall violate, aid or abe the violation or any of the provisions or this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred and N0/100 ( $200.00) DOllars. SECTION 7. The City Secretar.y is hereby directed to cause publication or the descriptive caption of this Ordinance, together with the penalty clause as an alternative as provided bylaw. SECTION s. That the enactment of this Ordinanco being necessary to the public safety and to provide tor a greater use of the public streets, is declared to be an emergency measure, the.ab.y creating a public necessity that the rule re-quiring proposed ordinances to be presented at two separate meetings be disiBnsed wi tb, and ·;.this Ordinance shall be et.fecti ve from the date . ot publication as herein provided.
