AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1149 ENTITLED "AN OF.DINANCE
MODIFYING THE PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE PAYME:NT OF THE COST-OF-LMNG BONUS
SO AS TO EXCLUDE CERTAIN CLASSES OF EBPLOYEES; ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE;

MADE PERTAINING TO AND DESIGlUTED AS "COST OF LIVING BONUS," INCLUDING PRO·
VISIONS IN THE CITY'S MINUTE OOOK SIX (6) AT PAGE 418, 491, 592 AND IN ;~nTUTE
OOOK SEVEN (7) AT PAGE 361; PROVIDING THAT ALL EMPLOYEES NOW RECEIVING THE COST-
OF LIVHiG BONUS, IN LIEU OF SUCH BONUS, SHALL HAVE THE SID!! OF ONE HUNDRED SIX
AlTD U0/100 ($106.00) OOLT...ARS ADDED TO THE BASE SALARY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE FOR THIS ORDINANCE'; AND DECLARING AN EMEffiENCY.
WHEReAS, the City Commission has duly considered the advisability
and economy of eliminating the Cost-of-Living Bonus now paid certain classes
.of employees as shown by Ordinance No. 1149, and finds that it will be in the
public interest to eliminate and repeal all provisions relating to bonus pay•
ments, ~nd establish base salaries for all such employees at existing basis
plus the amount of bonus as of this date, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COllMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKI
SECTION 1. That the provisions of Ordinance No. 1149, together vd th
all other existing provisions, including those set out in Hinute Book Six (6)
at pages 418, 491, 592 and in Itinute Book Seven (7) at page 361, are hereby
repealed so that after the effective date of the Ordinance the "Cost of Living
Bonus" shall not be paid to any employee of the City of Lubbock.
SECTION 2. All employees who have been entitled to l'eceive "Cost-
of-Living Bonus" in addition to their be.se S!:l.la-ries, as shovm by the provisions
of Ordinance No. 1149, shall receive, beginning with ef.fectiYe date of the
Ordinance, their respective salaries plus tho stun of One Htmdred Six a~d No/100
($106.00) Dollars each month, the total or which shall constitute tho oa.se sal-
ary of each such employee, which said sum of One Hundred Six and No/100 ($106)
Dollars pv.yable to each such employee shall remain constant until such base sal-
ary is hereafter duly changed.
SECTION J. The fact that the subject matter of tbl s Ordinance deals
with mani departments of the City and af£ects the usual daily operation of
said departments, creates an emergency requiring the suspension of all rules
relating to readings of ordinances, and this Ordinance shall be effective be·
gin1ung and after April 15. , 1952. 1

missioner Thomas , this Ordinance was duly passed this 24th
day of April, 1952 by the following vote of the City Commission:
