AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORD~A~CE NO. 661 AND THE
OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK SO AS TO CHANGE THE
ZONING IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY EAST BROADWAYt EAST FOURTH
STREET, QUIRT A VENUE AND A VENUE A; AND Al.SO TO CHANGE THE FOL
LOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY FROM AN ttA" DISTRICT TO A "J" DISTRICT:
ZONING CASE 1364 -THAT PART OF BLOCKS 69 AND 70, ROBERTS 8t
McWHORTER ADDITION THAT LIES NORTH OF THE RAILROAD RIGHT-OF-
WAY (LOCATED AT AVENUE U AND BAYLOR AVENUE}.
WHEREAs, the proposed changes in Zoning Districts as hereinafter made
have been duly presented to the Zoning and Planning Commission for its recom-
mendation, which recommendation was received by the City Commission, and,
after due consideration, the City Commission unanimously finds that making
the proposed changes as hereinafter set out will be in the public interest, and,
WHEREAS, all notices have been given in compliance with Section 25 of
Ordinance No. 661, as well as notices provided by Article 1011£, Revised Civil
Statutes, as amended, and notice was duly published on February 24, 25, and
26, 1952, in the Lubbock Morning Avalanche, and the public hearing, according
to said notice, was held at 2:00P.M. on March 13, 1952, in the City Commis-
sion Room on the first floor of the City Hall, Lubbock, Texas, at which time
persons appeared in support of the proposal and, after said hearing, it was
·by the City Commission determined that it would be in the public interest, due
to changed conditions, that the Zoning Ordinance and the Zoning Map be
amended in substantial compliance with the proposal, THEREFORE,.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE. CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION I. That Ordinance No. 661 and the Official Map BE. and the
same is hereby amended as follows, to-wit:
(1) The following described property be changed from its present zoning to
an "H" District:
Tract l -Beginning at the northwest corner of the intersection
of Quirt Avenue and East Broadway; THENCE West 203.31 feet
to the southwest corner of Lot Two {2), Tonroy & Stalnaker
Subdivision; THENCE North 226 feet to the alley behind Lot Two
(2); THENCE East 203.25 feet to the west line of Quirt Avenue;
THENCE South 226 feet to the point of beginning. {Property in
this change also known as Lot Two (2), Tonroy & Stalnaker
Subdivision. }
Tract 2 -Commencing at the northwest corner of Quirt Avenue
and East Broadway; THENCE West along the north right-of-way
line of East Broadway 1286.87 feet to the place of beginning,
which is the southwest corner of Lot Nine (9). Block Two (2),
Rhyne Simpson Addition; THENCE North 220 feet; THENCE
West running parallel with East Broadway 1650 feet to the west
line of Mackenzie Park; THENCE South 220 feet to the north
line of East Broadway; THENCE East along the north right-of-way

(5) Change the following described property from an 11A 11 District to a
11 JH District:
Zoning, Case ,1364 -That part of Blocks Sixty-Nine {69)
and Seventy (70), Roberts 8t McWhorter Addition that
lies north of the railroad right-of-way (located at Avenue
U and Baylor Avenue).
From and after passage and effective date of this Ordinance, said tracts
above referred to shall be changed to the Zoning Districts indicated and the
Official Zoning Map is hereby amended in accordance herewith.

described by metes and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at one inch (ln) iron pipe buried in center public road
going East and West, the Southeast corner of Section Eighteen (18),
Block A, and the Southeast corner of this tract;

The City Commission will hold a public hearing on March 13, 1952 at 2:00 o'clock
P. M. in the City Commission room on the first floor of the City Hall in Lubbock
to consider the recommendations of the Zoning and Planning Commission to deter-
mine the advisability of adopting its proposal; and at which time and place all
interested persons will be given an opportunity to protest against the proposed
amendment or make recommendations in support thereof.
After said hearing, the City Commission will determine whether the Zoning Ordi-
nance will be amended in accordance with such recommendation.
