CHARACTER OF THE VARIOU!:> STREETS 1-liTH RhFERhNCE TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC; REPEALING CONFLICTING PROVISIONS OF OT~ ~-~ OliDINANCES; AND PROVTilil'G A Pl.4..I~TY. WI~, the Lubbock Citizens' Traffic Commission has made a full and detailed study of traffic conditions throughout the City of Lubbock, the re- sults of which have been submitted to the Go·r erning Body of the City of Lubbock with recommendations, and, WHEREAS, the said Governing Body finds that the public safety and con- venience require the establishment of through-strr ets as well as the establish- ~<ent of certain one-way streets on a trial basis, a11 of which is designed to more adequately provide for the proper handling of increased traffic of motor vehicles and other vehicles throughout th~ city, T~FO~, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CrrY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ~UBBOCK: SECTION 1. Stop signs and other necessary traffic control devices shall be placed at each intersection where a street comes into or crosses any of the above designated "boulevards'' or "right-of-way" streets. SECTION 3. (1) The following streets are hereby designated One-Way Streets, and vehicular traffic shall move only in one direction: (a) South on Avenue T from Fourth Street to 34th Street (b) North on AvenueS from 34th Street to Fourth Street (2) A uniform sign indicating the direction of traffic shall be erected and maintained at every intersection where traffic in the opposite direction is prohibited. (3) On One-Way Streets parking of vehicles is permitted on either sl.de of the street, provided the vehicle is headed in the direction vehicles are permitted to travel on said street. SECTION 4. That part of any ordinance in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance is hereby repealed, PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that this ordinance shall not repeal nor be construed as affecting any ordinance duly authorizing the placement of traffic control lights and stop signs shall not be used in such intersections. SECTION 5. Where any One-Way Street established by the provisions of this ordinance is adjacent to a public school, such additional traffic control devices shall be placed at the intersection of such One-Way Street with other streets adjacent to such schools, as may be provided or required by emergency ordinance of the Governing Body. SECTION 6. Any person who shall violate any of th.e provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200 ). AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
