AN ORDINANCE PROVIDJNG FOR A FORrY (40) FOCYr FREJGHT LO_mG ~ Oli THE
NORTH SIDE OF THE 700 BLOCK OF 13TH STREET, BEGINNING AT THE ALLEY n~ THIS BLOCK
AND RUNNING FORTY (40) FEET EAST THEREOF; PROVIDING FOR PAINTING AND HARKING
THE CURB ALONG SAID ZONE: PROVIDING A PENALTY UPON CONVICTION FOR PARKING IN
SAID AREA FOR A PURPOSE OTHER THAN LOADING AND UNLOADING OF MERCHANDISE : DIREC-
TING AND EMPOWERING THE CITY SECRETARY TO CAUSE PUBLICATION OF THE DESCRIPI'IVE
CAPTION OF THIS ORDINANCE TOOETHER WITH THE PENALTIES AS SET HEREIN: AND PRO-
VIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE AFTER ITS PASSAGE.
WHEREAS, a freight loading zone is needed to serve two (2) wholesale houses
located adjacent to this proposed freight zone for the purpose of loading and
unloading merchandise at the curb line in order to avoid obstructing traffic on
said 13th street, THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT, the area on the North side of the 700 block of 13th Street
beginning at the alley in this block and running forty (40) feet East thereof
is hereby designated as a loading zone.
SECTION 2. THAT, the North curb line of the 700 Block of 13th Street,
adjacent to the area described in Section One (1) shall be painted yellow with
the following lettering: "LOADING ZONE11 •
SECTION J. THAT, after the effective date of this ordinance it shall be
unlawful f or one to permit, allow or suffer a motor vehicle t o stop in the area
described in Section One (1) for any purpose other than while actually engaged
in the loading and unloading of merchandise, and a person found guilty under this
Ordinance is guilty of a misdemeanor ~nd shall be fined in any sum of money not
more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dolla~s.
SECTION 4. THAT, the City Secr~ary is hereby authorized and directed to
publish the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with Penalty Clause
No. Three (3) as an alternative method of publication provided by law.

On motion of Commissioner Hufstedler , seconded · by Commissioner
Thomas , the foregoing Ordinance was passed on first reading this
26th d~ of November ,1951, by unanimous vote of the City Commission.
On motion of Commissioner Thomas , seconded by Commissioner
~ Davis , the foregoing Ordinance was passed on second reading this
13th d~ of December ,1951, by unanimous vote of the City Commis-
sion.
