AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING. FOR THE ~ .. li.RKING OF PAVED RECESSED PARKING A..ilEAS;
DEFINIID THE 'MM, "PARKING STALlS"; AUTHORIZING THE TRAFFIC ENGINEER TO IN-
DICATE PARKING STALLS BY PADITOO. LDlES IN SUCH AREAS; AND PROVIDIID A PENALTY
FOR NOT PARKING VEHICLES IN THE .DIDICATED "PA..~CD'JG STALLS."
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE crrY C<l"iHISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
' . -. SECTION 1. That all paved recessed parking ·areas, designed or used for
parking purposes, and which areas occupy any part of a highway or street right-
of-way uithin the City of Lubbock, shall be marked as herein provided, to in-
dicate the kind or character of parking permitted in such areas, as follows:
(1) Arry suc..h rRcessed area having less than ten feet (10') bet"'i'reen
an established sidewalk and the gutter line, shall be marked
for parallel parking, that is, par king p:~. rallel to the sidewalk.
( 2) Any such recessed area having more than ten feet (10') or less
than twenty-two feet (22') between an established.sid~ralk and
the gutter line, shall be marked for 30-degree angle pa.rking,
that is, 30 degrees to the sidewalk. The provisions of sub-
sections (1) and (2) shall not apply on any portion of a street
where angle parking is permitted at the normal curb line.
(3) Any such recessed area having more than twenty-two feet (?2')
or less than twenty-nine feet (29•), shall be marked for 45~
degree angle parking, that is 45 degrees to the sidewalk.
(4) Any such recessed area having more than twenty-nine feet (29')
or less than thirty-six feet (36 1), shall be marked for 60-
degree angle parking, that is, 60 degrees to the sidewalk.
For the purpose of this ordinance, the term, flparldng stall," is that area
bet\"Teen adjacent parallel paint lines and bet11een the established side't·talk and
gutter line.
SECTION 2. It shall be the duty of the Traffic Engineer to mark all such
paved areas by the application of paint stripes approximately six inches (6")
in llidth so as to fonn 'parking stalls f having a rr.idth of approximately eight
feet (8'~, so that the location of the "parking stalls" will at all times be
visible to vehicle operators.
SECTION 3. It shall be unla,offul for any person to park any vehicle in
any such recessed parking area unless such vehicle is parked wholly within the
11 parking stall11 , as that term is herein defined, and v-Thoever shall violate this
provision of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not
exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200).
