WHEREAS, 1he Governing Body finds that public convenience,\ safety
and n~cessity in the City of Lubbock require t~at buildin,g lines, or rig~t-of
way hnes, be ~stablished on that part of certa1n streets described in the
caption and body of this ordinance, to prevent repair and placing .of .st4uctures
and trees in tHe areas designated between the building lines so established,
such areas being ultimately required in the public interest to extend, dpen,
widen and otherwise improve the affected streets, which the.Gover:ningl Body
finds to be inadequate to :meet requirements for street' purposes, a!nd, j
WHEREAS, the Governing Body finds that the establishment a~ this
time of such lin:es will promote economy in the extension and widening iof
said streets, THEREFORE, 1

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE .CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT public necessity, convenience and safety in the City
of Lubbock require the extension, opening, widening, construction and
improvement of that part of the street hereinafter designated, within the build-
ing lines herein established.
SECTION z. A building line h hereby established on that por'l;ion of
35th Street from its intersection with Avenue P on the East to its intersection
with Avenue Q on :the West.
On the North side of such portion of the street, the South property
line of the Granville Johnson SubdiviSion to the City of Lubbock is
established as the North building line.
On the South side of such portion of the street, the building line is
described as follows: B;EGINN~G at a point fifty (50) feet Southerly
from the Southeast corner of the said Granville Johnson Subdivfsion,
said point being in the West property line .. ofAvenue P; THENCE
Westerly parallel to and fifty (50) feet distant from the said South
property line of said Granville Johnson Subdivision, a distance of
608. 03 feet, more or less, to a point, said point being in the East

SECTION 3. That a building line is hereby e&tablished on that portion
of 36th Street from its intersection with Avenue Q eastward for a dilstance of
80.68 feet.
On the North side of such portion of the street, the building line is
described as followsl BEGINNING at a point in the East property
line of Avenue 0, said point being 2.85 feet Southerly from the South-
west cor.ner of the Granville Johnson Subdivision to the City of
Lubbock• THENCE Easterly parallel to and Z85 feet distant from
the said South property line of said. subdivision, a distance of 80.68
feet.
On the South side of such portion of the street: BEGINNING at a
point in the East property line of Avenue Q, said point being 335
feet Southerly from the Southwest corner of the Granville Johnson
Subdivisionto the City of Lubbock; THENCE Ea~terly parallel to
and .335 feet distant from the said South property line of the said
subdivision a .distance of 80. 68 feet.
SECTION 4. That a building line is hereby established on that portion of
38th .Street fro~ its· intersection with Avenue P on the .East to its intersection
with Avenue Q on the West. •
On the North side of such portion of the street. BEGINNING at a
point fifty (50) feet Northerly from the Northeast corner of Block
Fifteen (15), Southport Addition to the City of Lubbock, and in the
West propertt line of Ave:nue P; THENCE Westerly parallel to
and fifty (50) feet distant from the said North property line of
said addition, a dist~ce of 528. 3 feet, :more or less, to a
point in the East property line of ·Avenue Q.
On the South. side of such portion of the street, the North property
line of Block ,Fifteen (15), Southport .Addition to the City of Lubbock,
is established as the building line.
SECTION 5. That a buildingline is hereby established on that portion of
38th Street from its intersection with Avenue R on the East to its intersection
with AvenueS on the West.
On the North side. of such portion of the street,. BEGINNING at a
point in ibe West property line of Avenue R, fifty {50) feet distant
North ·of the North property line of Block One (1), Southport Addition
to the City of Lubbock; THENCE Westerly parallel to and fifty (50)
feet distant from the said North property tine of said Block One (1),
Southport Addition, a distance of Z58. 6 :feet, more or less, to a
point, said point being in the East property line of Avenue S.
On the South side of su:h portion ofthe street, the North property
line of BlDck7Dne {1), Southport Addition to the City of Lubbock,
is established as the South building line,
SECTION 6. The term ubuilding Ji.ne'1 as used herein shall be construed
to mean ttstreet right-of-way line, n andthe set-back requirements tmder
Zoning Ordinance No. 661 shall app~y in addition to the. right-of-way lines, or
buildinglines, herein established~ it being the intent and purpose of this
Ordinance fn.:Jreserve all land within the building lines herein established for
ultimate street purposes.
SECTION 7. That no building or other structure shall be erected, re•
erected, or substantially repaired, and no new structures or parts thereof
shall be erected or re .. erected on that part of the streets herein designated
within said lines herein established.
SECTION 8. That all structures now .extending .into or beitlg located
within or between said building lines herein .established are hereby required
to conform. to the lines herein established within.,: ) ]IE ye'ars ;from the
effective date of this Ordinanc.e.
SECTION 9. That the provisions of this Ordinance prohibi:UngAP,~ pla~ing
of structures between the building lines herein established shall not apply to
any officer, agent, employee .or other person duly authorized by the City of
Lubbock, when such work relates to utility extensions or str.eet.imp:rovements,
PROVIDED this p:rovision shall not be const:rued as authorizing any such per-
sons .to ente:r upon private p:roperty lying between such lines until the same has 1
been .dedicated to public use or othe:rwise acquired for such purpose.
SECTION 10. The City Secretary is hereby di:rected to cause publication
of the descriptive caption of .this Ordinance as an alternative provided by law.
