ORDINANCE NO. 1080
AN ORDINANCE CANCELLING AND VOIDING THE CONTRACT
PROPOSED TO HAVE BEEN_ ENTERED INTO BETWEEN THE CITY OF
LUBBOCKAND THE TEXAS STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT* EXECUTED.(
MARCH 8, 1951, BY THE MAYOR• AS AUTHORIZED BY THE CITY COMMIS-
SION~ AND D.£CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1951, the City Commission authorized the
Mayor to execute an agreement with the Texas State Highway Department
for the construction of Nineteenth Street on Texas Avenue to the East City
Limits, being the route of U. S. Highway fz., said contract having l:Jeen
submitted to the City for execution but which contract prior to execution by
the Highway Department was revoked by it with the request that a new con-
tract be entered into which more specifically details the division of
construction responsibilities, future utilities, and maintenance responsibili-
ties, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT in consideration of the premises and request made by the
Highway Department by mutual consent between the Highway Department and
the City of Lubbock, the contract above mentioned and executed March 8,
1951, by the City of Lubbock is hereby in all things cancelled and voided.
This Ordinance shall become effective upon its first reading and
passage due to the emergency created by the needed cancellation of the con-
tract referred t o and the passage of a separate ordinance authorizing the
Mayor to enter into the substitute contract in view of the imperative need to
immediately secure the letting of construction contracts for Nineteenth
• Street East from Texas Avenue.
AND IT lS SO ORDERED.

Ordinance No. 1081
Authorizes Agreement between City and State. Highway Dept., regard
improvement & maintenance of 19th Street, Texas Avenue to East wity Limits
the route of u.s. 62, states:
"The City will provide for the construction of a 48 inch
reinforced concrete pipe storm sewer draining from the
Southeast right-ot-way line at Station 179/20.
The State will provide tor the construction items ot
Grading, Roadway Pavement and its support, Curb and ~utter
Median Curbs, Storm Sewers, and Drainage Structures.
