COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL USES; AND APPLYING A RESIDENTIAL IRRIGATION RATE 'DUE TO DROUTH CONDITIONS." SO AS TO DELETE THEREFROM THE TEN (10) PER CENT PROMPT PAYMENT DISCOUNT PROVISION. WHEREAS, the provision of Ordinance No. 896 authorizing a ten (10) per cent discount on water bills paid within ten (10) days after the date same are rendered has proved wholly inadequate as an inducement for prompt payment of water bills, and the City Commission deems it to be in the public interest to eliminate suc!t .provision, due partially to the increased cost of producing water and in an effort to avoid an increase of water rates, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THA. T Section 1 of Ordinance No. 896 BE and the same is hereby amended to read as,follows: SECTION 1. That from and a fter the passage of this Ordinance, the City of Lubbock, through its Water Department, shall charge and collect, a nd every consumer of water shall pay, for wat.er furnished by the City of Lubbock to the consumer the amounts calculated by application of the following rates, a n d in accordance with the classifications set out: C-1 C-2 C-3 C -4 C-5 C-6 C-7 C-8 C-9 E-1 E-'2 E-3 Rl-4 COMMERCIAL WATER RATE First 3, 000 gallons per month Next 2, 000 gallons per month Next 3, 000 gallons per month Next 10, 000 gallons per month Next40, 000 gallons per month Next 100, 000 gallons per month Next 140, 000 gallens per month Next 100, 000 gallcfns per month Excess $1. 80 per M Gallons RESIDENTIAL WATER RATE • 30 per M Gallons • 25 per M Gallons • 20 per M Gallons .18 perM Gallons • 16 per M Gallons • 15 per M Gallons .12 per M Gallons • 10 1/2 per M Gallons First 3, 000 gallons per month $1 • 80 Next 2, 000 gallons per month Next 2, 000 gallons per month Excess (Residential Irrigation only) • 30 per M Gallons • 25 per M Gallons • 15 per M gallons All bills sb.all be due and payable monthly within ten (10) days from date rendered. (. .. ( A minimum rate for water charged all consumers on meters shall be ONE DOLLAR AND 80/100 ($1. 80) per month regardless of the amount of water used. Due to existing drouth conditions which are destroying lawns and other plant life, which directly contributes to excessive sand and dust which consti- tutes a nuisance where residences are situated, creating the need for use of an adequate economical water supply to revive and perpetuate plant life including lawns, trees, shrubbery, in an effort to abate such nuisance in the public inter- est, the residential irrigation rate (Rl-4 ) shall apply to all premises used exclusively for residential purposes and where lawns, trees and other plant life are maintained or cultivated, from first billing date after March 1, 1951, until changed by ordinance. The City Commission reserves the right to change, modify or reclassify all rates. AND· IT IS SO· ORDERED. Passed and approved by unanimous vote of the City Commission this 12 day of April , 1951.
