HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 1066-1951 - Portion Of Ave H West Of County Courthouse - 03/08/1951I oa-oe -1.s.s1 ORDINANCE NO. 1066 0-3-22-l.9SI AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING A PORTION OF AVENUE H WEST OF THE OLD LUBBOCK COUNTY COURTHOUSE AND ACROSS THE COURTHOUSE SQUARE, EXTENDING FROM MAIN STREET ON THE NORTH TO BROADWAY STREET ON THE SOUTH AS A ONE-WAY STREET AND PERMITTING ONLY VEHICULAR TRAFFIC THEREON PROCEEDING SOUTH ON SAID STREET; DESIGNATING A PORTION OF AVENUE H EAST OF THE OLD LUBBOCK COUNTY COURTHOUSE AND ACROSS THE COURTHOUSE SQUARE.E XTEND- ING FROM MAIN STREET ON THE NORTH TO BROADWAY STREET ON THE SOUTH AS A ONE-WAY STREET AND PERMITTING ONLY VEHICULAR TRAFFIC THEREON PROCEEDING NORTH ~ON SAID STREET; AUTHORIZING CinEF OF POLICE TO ERECT SIGNS CONSISTENT WITH THE ORDINANCE; DECLARING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; REPEALING • ALL ~ .£IONSOFOTHER ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DIRECTING PUBLICATION AS AN ALTERNATIVE, THEREFORE: . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. That portion of Avenue H west of the Old Lubbock County Courthouse and across the Courthouse Square, extending from Main Street on the north to Broadway Street on the south is hereby designated as a one-way street and only the vehic~lar traffic proceeding south on Avenue H shall be permitted thereon. SECTION 2. That portion of Avenue H east of the Old Lubbock County Courthouse and across the Courthouse Square, extending from Main Street on the north to Broadway Street on the south,is hereby designated as a one-way street and only the vehicular .traffic proceeding north on Avenue H shall be per- mitted thereon. SECTION 3. The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and directed to erect signs consistent with the provisions of this ordinance. SECTION 4. It shall be unlawful for any person to allow, permit or suffer any vehicle to be driven in violation of Section 1 or Section 2 o£ this Ordinance, and any person, firm or corporation upon conviction for violating any provision o£ this ordinance shall be fined in any sum not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200). SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall repeal all provisions or portions of other ordinances in conflict herewith. SECTION 6. The City Secretary is hereby directed to cause publica- tion of the descriptive caption of this ordinance together with the penalty clause {Section 4) as an alternative provided by law.
