AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ON THAT PORTION OF
AVENUE H BETWEEN MAIN STREET ON THE NORTH AND BROADWAY
STREET ON THE SOUTH UNLESS SAID VEHICLE BE PARKED PARALLEL
TO THE CURB AND THE WHEELS OF SAID VEHICLE BE WITHIN TWELVE
{12) INCHES OF THE CURB; AMENDING SECTION 23 OF ORDINANyE 564
THEREBY CREATING A TWENTY (20) MINUTE PARKING METER ZONE ON
THAT PORTION OF.AVENUE H WEST OF THE OLD LUBBOCK COUNTY
COURTHOUSE AND ACROSS THE COURTHOUSE SQUARE EXTENDING FROM
MAIN STREET ON THE NORTH TO BROADWAY STREEl' ON THE SOUTH
ALONG BOTH CURBS OF THE SAID PORTION OF AVENUE HAND ON THAT
PORTION OF AVENUE H EAST OF THE OLD LUBBOCK COUNTY COURT-
HOUSE AND ACROSS THE COURTHOUSE SQUARE EXTENDING FROM . MAIN
STREET ON THE NORTH AND BROADWAY STREET ON THE SOUTH ALONG
BOTH GU}.tBS OF SAID PORTION OF AVENUE H; DIRECTING THE CHIEF OF
POLICE TO MARK THAT PORTION OF THE SAID STREET TO INDICATE
PARALLEL PARKING AND INSTALL TWENTY {20) MINUTE PARKING METERS
IN EACH OF THE DESIGNATED PARKING SPACES; PROVIDING A PENALTY;
EXPRESSLY REPEALING 'ORDINANCE 614 AND ALL PROVISIONS OF OTHER
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE;

.. " A~ I and Broadway Street on the south has been designated as a Safety Zone and
(_, parking p rohibited in and on that portion of the said street~ and since the street
' is actually divid~d into two (2) different roadways on the east and west sides of
the Old Lubbock County Courthouse, each being used by one-way traffic. and

the width of each roadway will permit parking on both sides of the said portions
of said street and not interfere with the moving of traffic thereon, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT it shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to
allow, permit or suffer any vehicle to be parked on that portion of the street
hereinafter described, unless said vehicle be parked parallel to the curb and
the wheels of said vehicle nearest the curb be within twelve (12) inches of the
curb.
SECTION 2. Section 23 of Ordinance 564 is hereby amended so as to
create a parking meter zone in that portion of the street hereinafter described,
and limiting the time of parking as follows, to-wit:
(a) Twenty (20) Minute Zone, Parallel Parking:
On that portion of Avenue H west of the Old Lubbock County
Courthouse and across the Courthouse Square, extending
from Main Street on the north to Broadway Street on the
south, and said zone shall be in force along both curbs of
the said portion of Avenue H.

(b) Twenty (20 Minute Zone, Parallel Parking:
On that portlon o venue H eas o e 0 Lubbock County
Courthouse and across the Courthouse Square, extending
from Main Street on the north to Broadway Street on the
south, and said zone shall be in force along both cu:Fbs of
the said portion of A venue H.
SECTION 3. The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and directed to
mark the portion of the said street above described to indicate parallel parking
and to install twenty {20) minute meter in each of the designated parking spaces,.
SECTION 4. Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate or aid
and abet violation of any provision of thi~ ordinance shall, upon conviction, be
fined in any sum not exceeding One Hundred Dollars {$100).
SE.CTION 5. Ordinance 614 is hereby expressly repealed, and all
provi.sions·of other ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance,
relating to. parking meters and parking on that portion of the street described
in Section 2 of this ordinance, are hereby repealed. The City Secretary is
hereby directed to show in the Ordinance Book that Ordinance . 614 has been.
repealed.
1 SECTION 6. The City Secretary is hereby directed to cause p ublica-
tion of the descriptive caption of this ordinance together with the p enalty clause
(being Section 4) as an alternative provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
