AN ORDINANCE. MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON TO ALLOW,
PERMIT OR SUFFER ANY VElllCLE TO BE PARKED ON THAT IDRTION OF
THE STREET HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED:. UNLESS SAID VEHICLE BE
PARKED~' PARALLEL TO THE CURB AND THE RIGHT-HAND FRONT AND REAR
WHEELS OF SAID VEHICLE BE WITHIN TWELVE (12} INCHES OF THE CURB
·OR CURB LINE; AND AMENDING SECTION TWENTY-THREE (23) OF PARKING
METER ORDINANCE 564, CREATING ADDITIONAL PARKING METER ZONES
AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT: (A) ON ~HE NORTH SIDE OF MAIN STREET. BETWEEN
THE W"EST BOUNDARY LINE OF TEXAS AVENUE AND A POINT TWENTY-FOUR
(24) FEET EAST OF THE EAST BOUNDARY LINE OF AVENUE J; (B) ON THE
SOUTH SIDE OF MA,IN STREET, BEGINNING AT THE WEST BOUNDARY LINE
OF THE NORTH·SOUTH ALLEY BETWEEN T.E:x:As AVENUE AND AVENUE~
TO A POINT TWENTY-FOUR {24) FEET EAST OF THE. EAST BOUNDARY LINE
OF AVENUE J, AS A ONE {l) HOUR PARKING ZONE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
INSTALLATION OF ONE-(1) HOU:Q. METERS AND THE MARKING OF THE SAID
STREET T-0 INDICATE PARALLEL PARKING ON THAT PORTION OF THE
STREET HEREIN DESIGNATED; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES RELATING TO
PARKING ON THAT PORTION OF THE STREET HEREIN DESIGNATED AND
CONFLICTING WITH THE HtOVISIONS OF ORDINANCE 564; !ROVIDING A PEN-
ALTY FOR VIOLATION NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS; AND
DIRECTING THE CITY SECRETARY TO PUBLISH THE CAPTION OF 'FHIS OR-
DINANCE, TOGETHER WITH THE PENALTY CLAUSE.
• WHEREAS, the traffic condition on Main Street between Texas Avenue ,
and Avenue J can be remedied if parailel parking is used by the parked vehic-
les on that p ortion of said Main Stree'Q rather than angle parking,· and it is to
the best' p ubl:'c interest that parallel parking be used, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
LUBBOCK: .
SECTION 1. That it shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to allow,
pe'rmit or suffer any vehicle to be parked on that portion of the street herein-
after described, unless said vehic'le be parked parallel to the curb and the
right-hand front and rear wheels of said vehicles be within twelve (12) inches
of the curb or curb line.
SECTION 2. Section 23 of Ordinance No. 564 is hereby amended so as
to create a parking meter zone in that portion of the street hereinafter des-
cribed, and limiting the time of parking as· follows, to-wit:
(a) One 1) Hour Zone, Parallel parking! On the North side
of Main Street etween he West boundary line of Texas
Avenue and a point twenty-four (24) feet East of the East
boundary line of Avenue J.
(b) One (1) Hour Zone, Parallel Parking: ·on the South side
of Main Street, beginning at the West boundary line of
the North-South alley between Texas Avenue and Avenue

SECTION 3. The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and directed to
mark the portion of the said street above described to indicate parallel park-
ing and to install one-hour parking meter in each of the designated parking
spaces.
SECTION 4. All provisions of other ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance, relating to parking meters and parking on that
portion of the street described in Section 3 of this ordinance, are hereby
repealed.
SECTION 5. That any person, firm or corporation who shall violate
or aid and abet the violation of any provision of this ordinance shall, upon
conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00).
SECTION 6. The City Secretary is hereby directed to cause publica-
tion of the descriptive caption of this ordinance1 together with the penalty
clause (being Section 5) as an alternative provided by law.
