ORDINANCE NO. 1040
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 661 AND THE OF_
FICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK SO AS TO MAKE THE
FOLLOWING CHANGES: (1) CHANGE ALL OF RIDGECREST SUBDIVISION
FROM A TEMPORARY "Au DISTRICT TO A "B" DISTRICT;; (2) CHANGE ALL
OF 'il'HE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF BLOCK EIGHTY _NINE (89), ROBERTS &
MC;wHORTER ADDITION, ABOVE THE CANYON RIM; FROM A TEMPORARY
"A" DISTRICT TO AN "F" DISTRICTi (3) CHANGE LOTS NINE (9) AND TEN
(10), BLOCK THIRTY_FIVE (35), DENNISON'S SUBDIVISION OF ROBERTS &
MCWHORTER ADDITION, FROM A "C" DISTRICT TO AN "H" DISTRICT;
{4) CHANGE AN AREA OUT OF. WHEELOCK SECOND ADDITION DESCRIBED
AS FOLLOWS: BEGINNING AT THE INTERSECTION OF THE NORTH RIGHT
OF WAY LINE OF THE FORT WORTH AND DENVER RAILROAD COMPANY
AND THE CENTER LINE OF GLOBE AVENUE; THENCE NORTH TO THE
INTERSECTION OF EAST TWENTY_EIGHTH {28) STREET; THENCE EAST TO
THE INTERSECTION OF JUNIPER AVENUE1 THENCE SOUTH TO THE
INTE RSECTION OF EAST THIRTY_FIRST (31) STREET; THENCE EAST TO THE

THENCE NORTH TO THE INTERSECTION OF EAST TWENTY _EIGHTH STREET; I
THENCE EAST TO THE INTERSECTION OF KING AVENUE; THENCE NORTH TO
THE INTERSECTION OF RAILROAD AVENUE; THENCE IN A SOUTHEASTERLY l
DIRECTION TO THE INTERSECTION OF MAGNOLIA AVENUE; THENCE SOUTH
TO THE INTERSECTION OF EAST THIRTY_FIRST (31) STREET; THENCE WEST
TO THE PLACE OF BEGINNING. FROM AN "A" DISTRICT TO AN 11E"
DISTRICT; (7) CHANGE LOTS ELEVEN (11) THROUGH TWENTY (20),BLOCK
SEVEN (7), AND LOTS ELEVEN (11), TWELVE (12), THIRTEEN {13) FOURTEEN
(14), AND WEST THIRTY_TWO (321) FEET OF SIXTEEN (16), BLOCK EIGHT
{8), ZUNI PARK ADDITION, FROM AN '1A" DISTRICT TO A "B" DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the proposed changes in Zoning Districts as hereinafter made
has been duly presented to the Zoning and Planning Commission for its
recommendation, which recommendation was received by ,be City Commission
and, after due consideration, the City Conunission unanimously finds that
making the proposed changes as hereinafter set out will be in the public
interest, and,
WHEREAS, all notices have been given in compliance wit h Section 25 of
Ordinance No. 661, as well as notices provided by Article lOllf, Revised Civil
Statutes, as amended, and notice was duly published on November 7, 8 and 9,
1950, and the public hearing, according to said notice, was held at 2:00 otclock, r

P. M. on November 22, 1950, in the City Commission Room on t he second
floor of the City Hall, Lubbock, Texas, at which time persons appeared in
support of the proposal and. after said hearing, it was by the City Commisslon
determined that it would be in the public interest, due to changed conditions,
that the Zoning Ordinance and the Zoning Map be amended in substantial com_
pliance with the proposal, THER:lr:FORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT, Ordinance No. 661 and the.Official Zoning Map be, and
the same is, he:teby amended as follows, to_wit:
(1) Change all of Ridgecrest Subdivision from a temporary "A''District to
a "B" District.
(Z) Change all of the Southwest Corner of Block Eighty Nine (89), Roberts
& McWhorter Addition above the Canyon Rim, from a temporary "A "District
to an "F!' District.
{3) Change Lots Nine (9) and Ten (10), Block Thirty five {35), Dennisonts
Subdivision of Roberts & McWhorter Addition, from a "CT' Oist.rict to an "H"
District.
(4) Change an area out of Wheelock Second Addition described as follows:
Beginning at the inters'ection of the North Right of Way line of the Fort Worth
and Denver Railroad Company, and the center line of Globe AvenueJ thence

I Beginning at the intersection of East Thirty first (31) Str~et and Juniper Avenue;
thence North to the intersection of East Twenty Eighth (28) Street; thence East
to the intersection of King Avenue; Thence North to the intersection of Railroad
I Avenue; thence in a Southeasterly direction to the intersection of Magnolia
Avenuej thence· South to the intersection of East Thirty _first (31) Street; th~nce
West to the place of beginning, from an "A" District to an "E" District.
(7) Change Lots Eleven (11) through Twenty (20), Block Seven (7)1 and Lots
Eleven (11), Twelve {12), Thirteen (13), Fourteen (14), and West Thirty two (32')
Feet of Sixteen (16), Block Eight (8), 'Zuni Park Addition, .,from an 11A11 District
to a "B" District.
From and after passage and effective date of this Ordinance, said lots and
tracts above referred to shall be changed to the Zoning Districts indicated and

NOTICE is hereby given that the Planning anci 'loning Commission has
recommended to the City Commission that Zoning Ordinance Noo 661 be amended
so that:
1, Change all of Ridgecrest Subdivision from a temporary "A"
district to a nan district.
2. Change all of the So W. Corner of Block 891 Roberts and
McWho:rter Addition above the Canyon Rim from a temporary
nAn district to an "F" district.
3, Change Lots 9 and 10, Block 35, Dennison's Subdivision of
Roberts & Mc;Whorter Addition from a "C'' district to an 11H"
district.
4. Change an area out of Wheelock Second Addition described
as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the North ROW
line of the Fort Worth and Denver R.R. Co. and the center
line of Globe Avenue; thence I-Torth to the intersection of
~Bt 28th Street; thence East to the intersection of Juniper
Avenue; thence South to the intersection of Eest 31st Street;
thence East to the intersection of Magnolia Avenue; thence
North to the intersection of Railroa~ Avenue; thence in a
Southeasterly direction along the center line of Railroad
Avenue to the North ROW line of the Fort Worth and Denver RR.
Co.; thence in a Northeasterly direction to the place of be-

5. Change an area out of Wheelock Second Addition described as
follows: beginning at the intersection of ~ast 31st Street
and Juniper Avenue; thence North to the intersection of East

Thence North to the intersection of Railroad Avenue; thence
in a Southeasterly direction to the intersection of Magnolia
Avenue; thence South to the intersection of East 31st Street;
thence West to the place of beginning from an 11A" district to
an "E" district.
Change Lots 311 32, 33, Block 1, Perkins Addition, from a f'G''
district to a nJcr district, and Lots 34,.35, 36, and 13, Block
1, Perkins Addition, from a ucn district to a. ltJU district.
Change Lots 11 through 20, Block 7, and Lots 11, 12, 13, 14,
and West 32' of 16, Block S, Zuni Park Addition from .an "A"
district to a n:au district.
( ~ ~ The City Commission will hold a public hearing on November 22, 1950,
at 2:00 o'clock P.M., in the City Commission room on the second floor of the
City Hall in Lubbock to consider the recommendations of the Zoning and Planning
Commission to determine the advisability of adopting its proposal;
