AN ORDINANCE ANNFMNG AN AREA, AND TERRITORY ABUTTING AND ADJACENT TO T k CITY
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND FINAL PASSAGE UNDER THE
PROVISIONS OF SECTION 3A, ARTICLE I, CHAPTER I CF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK
AND EXTENDING THE CITY LIMIT'S TO INCLUDE SAID AREA DESCRIBER BY METES AND BOUNDS AS
FOLLOWS TO WIT: AREAS THIRTEEN AND FOURTEEN. BEGINNING AT THE POINT OF INTERSECTION
OF MONROE AVENUE AND 33RD STREET SAID POINT BEING IN CITY LIMITS LINE; THENCE SOUTH
ABOUT 2300 FEET FOLLOWING MONROE AVENUE AND CITY LIMIT LINE TO A POINT IN THE SOUTH
BOUNDARY LINE OF 40TH STREET; THENCE WEST ABOUT 3960 FEET TO A POINT OF INTERSECTION
WITH THE EAST BOUNDARY LINE OF THE MILLER-STEVENS SUBDIVISION OF SURVEY 16, BIAIX B;
THENCE SOUTH ABOUT 1450 FEET FOLLOWING THE EAST BOUNDARY LINE OF MILLER-STEVENS SUB-
DIVISION TO ITS SOUTHEAST CORNER; THENCE WEST ABOUT 1950 FEET FOLLOWING THE SOUTH
BOUNDARY LINE OF THE MILLER-STEVENS SUBDIVISION TO A POINT BEING THE SOUTHWEST CORNER

LIMIT LINE; THENCE EAST ABOUT 2000 FEET FOLLOWING CITY LIMIT LINE TO POINT OF INTER-
SECTION OF TYLER AVENUE, AND 34TH STREET; THENCE NORTH ABOUT ?60 FEET FOLLOWING CITY
LIMIT LINE TO A POINT; THENCE EAST ABOUT 2300 FEET FOLLOWING CITY LIMIT LINE TO A
POINT; THENCE SOUTH ABJUr 40 FEET FOLLOWINrz CITY LIMIT LIKE TO A POINT; THENCE EAST
ABOUT 250 FEET FOLL01MG CITY LIMIT LINE TO THE PLACE OF BEGINNING,
WHEREAS, a large group of property owners and. ❑theraresiding within the hereinafter
described area, or owning property within said area, have petitioned the Governing Body
of the City of Lubbock to annex and include said Brea within the corporate limits of
the City of Lubbock and the Governing Body is of the opinion that said area is in line
of development, growth and expansion being experienced by the City of Lubbock, and that
the inclusion within the corporate limits and annexation of said area is in the public
interest, and said Governing Boo being empaweieed by Section 3A, Article I, Chapter I
of the Charter to annex by Ordinance additional territories lying adjacent to the City
Limits and said area and territory herein described is ad ja cent to and abuts the City
Limits of the City of Lubbock; THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBB OCK :
SECTION 1, That the hereinafter described area and territory be and the same is
hereby annexed to and included within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, said
area being described by metes and bounds as follows-.
AREAS THIRTEEN AND FOURTEEN. BEGINNING at the point of intersection of Monroe Avenue
and 33rd Street said point being in city limit line; THENCE South about 2300 feet follow
ing Monroe Avenue and city limit line to a point in the South Boundary line of 40th
Street; THENCE West about 3960 feet to a point of intersection with the East Boundary
Line cf the Miller -Stevens Subdivision of Survey 16, Block B; THENCE Southabout 1450
feet f ollawi.ng the East Boundary line of Miller -Stevens Subdivision to its Southeast
corner; THENCE West about 1950 feet following the South Boundary Line of the Miller -
Stevens Subdivision to a point being the Southwest corner of Miller -Stevens Subdividon
THENCE North about 850 feet following the outer line of public road to a point, being
the Southeast corner of City Park Sites; THENCE West at about 1890 feet past the
Southeast corner of College Heights Subdivision out of Survey 18, Block B continuing
West at about 7170 feet, West Boundary Line of Survey 18, Block B, center line of Slide
Road, Southwest comer of Hillcrest Subdivision, in all about 7320 feet to a point,
said point being about 150 feet West of the East Boundary Line of Survey 6, Block E2;
THENCE North about 2640 feet to a point in the South Boundary Line of Santa Fe Railway
right-of-way; TFMCE East about 150 feet past the Northeast corner of Survey 6, Block
E2, at about 5430 feet past the Northeast corner of Survey 160 Block B at about 8530
feet to a point of intersection with the city limit line; THENCE East about 2000 feet
following city limit line to point of intersection of Tyler Avenue, and 34th Street;
THMCE North about 360 feet following city limit line to a point; THENCE East about
2300 feet following city limit line to a point; THEN CE South about 40 feet following
city limit line to a point; THENCE East about 250 feet following city limit line to
the place of beginning.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be forthwith published in a daily newspaper
published in the City of Lubbock, Texas, cue time, and shall not be thereafter finally
acted upon until at least thirty (30) days have elapsed after such publication, and
if finally passed in its present form the boundary limits of the City of Lubbock shall
thereby be fixed to include the area, territory and extension described in Section 1
of this Ordinance.
On motion of Commissioner Hufstedler, seconded by Commissioner Price, and carried
by an affirmative majority vote of the City Commission, of the City of Lubbock, this
Ordinance was ordered to be published at a Special Meeting of the City Commission

October, 19490 in a daily newspaper published in the City of Lubbock, Texas, to -grit;
the Lubbock Morning Avalanche .Journal, and thirty (30) days have elapsed since said
publication, the same was duly passed and approved on First Reading this the ?th
day of Nmber, 1949, on motion of Commissioner Whiteside, seconded by Commissioner
Price, with the following Commissioner voting AYE: Commissioners Price, Spikes,
Whiteside, Hufstedler and Mayor Rodgers and the following Commissioners voting NO. -
None,
On Second Reading this Ordinance was duly passed and approved this 1 th day of
December, 1949, Whites on motion of Commissioner S ikes, seconded by Commissioner ide,
with the following Commissioners voting AYE. Commissioners Spikes! Price, Hufstedler,
Whiteside and Mayor Rodgers, and the following Commissioners voting NO; None.

feet to a point of intersection with the city limit line; THENCE East about 2000 feet
following city limit line to point of intersection of Tyler Avenues! and 34th Street;
THM019 North about 360 feet following city limit line to a point; THENCE East about
2300 feet following city limit line to a point; THM CE South about 40 feet following
city limit line to a point; THENCE East about 250 feet following city limit line to
this place of beginning.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be forthwith published in a daily newspaper
published in the City of Lubbock, Texas, me time, and shall not be thereafter finally
acted upon until at least thirty (30) days have elapsed after such publication, and
if finally passed in its present form the boundary limits of the City of Lubbock shall
thereby be fixed to include the area, territory and extension described in Section 1
of this Ordinance.
