WHEREAS, a large group of property owners, and voters residing wit - in e''hereinafter described area have petitioned the Governing Body of the City of Lubbock to annex and include above described area with_': in the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, and, '; WHEREAS, the -Governing Body finds that said area herein described ' I d in which many of said Petitioners reside, is in line of development., growth and expansion being experienced by the City of Lubbock, and the Governing Body further finds that the inclusion and annexation of the entire area as herein described by metes and bounds, within the cor- porate limits of the City of Lubbock to be in the public interest and the Governing Body is empowered by Section 3A, Article I. Chapter I of the Charter of the City of Lubbock to annex by Ordinance, additional, territories lying adjacent to the City of Lubbock and said area herein described is adjacent to and abuts the City Limits of the City of Lubbock, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. That the hereinafter described areas, as described by metes and bounds as follows, to -wit: BEGINNING on the South Boundary Line of 19th Street and the center line of Taylor Avenue and the present city limits; A T: y Socketery THENCE West along the South Boundary Line of 19th Street and along a line parallel to, and 30 feet South of the section line 1320 feet to the center line of Pierce Avenue; THENCE South along the center line of Pierce Avenue 2610 feet to the center line of 26th Street and the present cityy limits; THENCE Vast 1320 feet along the center line of 26th Street and the present city limits to the center line of Taylor Avenue and a corner of present city'' limits; THENCE North along the center line of Taylor Avenue 1305 feet to the center line of Ellwood Street; THENCE East along the center line of Ellwood Street 345 feet to a point North of the Northeast corner of Block 1, of the E. L. Snodgrass Addition; THENCE South along the East Boundary Line of Block 1 of the E. L. Snodgrass Addition 345 feet said point being on the North Boundary Line of Block 2 of the E. L. Snodgrass Addition; THENCE East following the present city limits along the North Boundary Line of Block 2 of the E. L. Snodgrass Addition and the North Boundary Line of Block 5 of the Tyler Square Addition 630 feet; THENCE South along the East Boundary Line of Block 5 of the Tyler Square Addition 320 feet to the center line of 24th Street; THENCE East along the center line of 24th Street 345 feet to the center line of Tyler Avenue; THENCE North along the center line of Tyler Avenue 1330 feet to the center line of 21st Street; TMMCE West along the center line of 21st Street 1320 feet to the center line of Taylor Avenue; THENCE North along the center line of Taylor Avenue 640 feet to the South Boundary Line of 19th Street the place of beginning. be, and the same is hereby annexed to and included within the cor- porate limits of the City of Lubbock. This Ordinance shall be published in a daily news- paper published in the City of Lubbock, Texas ong time and shall not :tbereafter be finally acted upon until at least thirty days have elapabd after such publication and if finally passed in its present form the 'boundary limits of the City of Lubbock, Texas shall thereby be freed do Include the extension described in Section 1 of this Ordinance. As ordered, said Ordinance was published in the Lubbock Morning Avalanche, on July $2y 1949# go further action has been taken on said proposed ordinance at this time because of the faot that the thirty day period of publication is not up. .Attached hereto is copy of said ardinanoe, which provides for annexation of certain property into the City Limits.
