HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 912-1949 - Regulating The Parking Of Vehicles 17Th St. - 04/29/1949·~~~~~~~~=----====-----==~----~=----=====--~==~~~~~~-=~=-~~ <==,_,.,..,~=II·=.• -'" 0 4 -'2 9-1..9 4.9 \;, ~ ORDINANCE NO 912 11 05 -\2-1.9 4-9 ~~ AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE PARKING OF VEHICLES ON THAT PART e-:: OF 17TH STREh"'T LYING BETViEEN TEXAS AVENUE AND AVENUE H; ESTABLISHING PARALLEL PARKING ON SAID PART OF 17TH STREET; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON TO PARK A VEHICLE ON SAID PART Ol L7TH STREET UNLESS IT BE PARKED PARALLEL TO THE CURB AND WITHIN ONE ( 1) FOOT THEREOF; AUTHORIZING THE PLACING OF PARALLEL PARKING SIGNS AND CURB MARKERS THEREFOR; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERl:!.'NITH AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. WHEREAS, the City commission finds that 17th Street between Avenue H and Texas Avenue is a part of the route traveled by Fire Trucks going to the Southeast part of Lubbock and parallel parking should be required in the interest of public safety and welfare, therefore, .. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to park any yehicle on that part of 17th Street between Avenue H and Texas Avenue unless such vehicle be parked parallel to the curb and the wheels of such vehicle on the right hand side be within one (1) foot of the curb or curb line. SECTION 2. The Chief of Police is authorized and directed to place uniform parallel parking signs· together with parallel parking space marks on the curbs on the North and south sides of 17th Street between Avenue H and Texas Avenue so as to put the operators of motor vehicles on notice that parallel parking is required. SECTION 3. The provisions of any Ordinance or Ordinances ·here- tofore passed regulating parking on 17ts street between Avenue H and Texas are hereby repealed insofar as they affect said part of 17th Street. SECTION 4. Any person who shall violate any provision of Section 1 of this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in any sum not exceeding ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00). AND IT IS ·SO ORDERED.
