AN ORDINANCE RmULATING THE PARKI:OO OF VEHICLES ON THAT PORTION OF AVENUE 'H",
UING BETWEEN THE SOUTH PROPERTY LINE OF 19TH STBEET EXTENDED, AND THE F<ET WORTH
AND DENVER RAILWAY COMP!NI RAilROAD TRACKS LYING IMMEDIATEU SOUTH OF 26TH STREET;
ESTABLISHING PARAI.I.EL PARKING ON SUCH PART OF AVENUE "H" EXCEPI' THAT PART OF AVENUE

ING IS HEREIN PROVIDED; DIRECTING CHIEF OF POLICE TO PLACE PARKING SIGNS; AND PR<>-

WHEREAS, changed tratric conditions require that additional street space be
used to accOIIIIOdate increas~ traf'fia on Avenue •H• between the South property
line ot 19th Street extended, and the Fort Worth & DeDYer RaUR7 Coapau;y railroad
tracks q'ing i•ediatell' South of 26th Street, ~ the angle parking of trucks and
other vehicles seriouslT impedes the movemeat of traffic, and,
WHEREAS, the City Co.ission finds that parallel parking, with certain excep•
tiona, will prevent traf'ric congestion at this location and promote public satet7
and convenience, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE em COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKa
Section 1. It shall hereaf"ter be UDJ.awf'ul for 8.lJY person to park &1\Y vehicle
on that portion of Avenue •H• .qi.Dg between the South property line of 19th Street
extended, and the Fort Worth & Denver Railway Compal\J' railroad traolce lfing 1m·
mediatel,y South or 26th street, unless such vehicle be parked parallel to, and the
wheels or such vehicle on the right•hand side be within one (1•) foot ot the curb.
Section 2. The provisions ot Section 1, shall not app~ on the Weat side ot
Avenue •H• abutting Lots 3 thru 8, Block 1, Garland AdditionJ Lots 9 thru 12, Block
2, Bowles Addition) Lots 1, and 3 thru 6, Block 1, J. w. Ellison Addition; aDd that
portion of Harke~ Addition North of the Fort lfortb & Denver R&ilR7 right-or-n;y;
nor to that portion ot the East aide ot Avenue •HW abutti~ Lots 12, 18 aDd 19,
Hart AdditionJ Lot ll, Block 2, Merrills ·.Addition; Lots 1, .3, 11, 1.3 alld 15, Block
.3, Merrills Addition, and that portion of the Fort Worth & Deuver Railwq Company
right·ot~ between 26th street and the railroad track.
Section 3• It shall be unlawtul ror anr person to park aqy vehicle on that
portion o£ Avenue •H11 abutting the lots described in Section 2 or this ordinance,
unless such vehicle be parked at a 45 degree angle and within the a paces there pro•
vided tor angle parking.
Section 4• The Cbief' of Police is authorized and directed to place unitora
11 Angle Parki!li" aDd •Parallel Parld.ng11 signs along the above described portion of
Avenue "H", consistent w1 th the provisions ot this ordinance, so aa to put the
c:>perators ot vehicles on notice where parallel or angle parking is required.
Section 5o AD, person who shall violate anr provision ot Sections 1, 2 or 3
ot this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be rined in ~ sum not exceeding tlOO.
