Home My WebLink AboutOrdinance - 878-1948 - Repealed By Ordinance 4656 - 07/08/1948, ..,.- • -' ... 878 ~ ~= Repealed by Ordinance No. 4656 07f-OB-Iq40 " M I t!J 3 I OliDINANCE NQ. 878 . o-:r-22-1q4125 • • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23, OF ORDINAlifCE NO. 564, READING, "AN ORDINANCE 'CREATING AND DEFINING P.ARKING METER ZONES IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THE INSTALLATION, OPEP..ATION AND MAINTENANCE OF MECHAN I CAL DEVICES TO REGULATE PAFKING IN SAID PARKING METER ZONE~; PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION OF RmULATORY AND INSPECTION FEES FOR THE USE OF SUCH DEVICES; PROVIDING FOR THE DEPOSIT OF .SUCH FEES BY THE CITY TREASURER IN A SPECIAL FUN D; PROVIDING FOR THE METHOD AND PURPOSE OF DISBUF..SEMENT OF SAID FUND;_ MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO USE THE STREETS OR PORTIONS OF THE STREETS SO DESIGNATED FOR PARKING EXCEPT THROOOH USE OF PARKING METERS; DE"" FINilll WHAT ACTS SHALL BE UNLAWFUL, AND FIXING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE~ AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 558, AND ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. 11 ; SO THAT AN ADDITIONAL PARKING METER ZONE IS BY THIS AMENDMENT HEF.EBY DESIGNATED AND ESTABLISHED TO EMBRACE THE NORTH SIDE OF BROADViAY FROM AVENUE "L" TO AVENUE 11 M", BOTH SIDES OF AVENUE "K" FROM 13TH STREET TO 14TH STREET 1 THE EAST SIDE OF AVENUE "G" FROM MAIN STREET TO BROADWAY, THE WEST SIDE OF AVENUE 11H" FROM 13TH STREET TO 14TH STREET AND THE NORTH SIDE OF 15TH STREET FROM TEXAS AVENUE TO AVENUE "J" J FIXING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND DIRECTING PUBLICATION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXASa SECTION 1. That an additional parking meter zone, BE, and the same is hereby designated and established in the City of Lubbock, Texas, said parking meter zone shall embrace the following streets in the City of Lubbock, Texas, to-witt (a) The North side of Broadway from Avenue "L" to Avenue "M11 • (b) Both sides of Avenue "~' from lJth Street to 14th Street. (c) East aide of Avenue "G" from Main Street to Broadw~~ (d) West side of Avenue nHn from 13th Street to 14th Street. (e) North side of 15th Street f rom Texas Avenue to Avenue WJn. SECTION 2. That each of the said streets and avenues and particUlarly that part of said streets and avenues referred to herein and set out in Section 1 above, are shown and outlined on the map and plat of the Original Town of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, which map and plat is of record in the Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas, and reference is here made to the map and plat for all purposes. SECTION 3• All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith and applying to that portion of the streets and avenues named in Section 1 of this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. It is not intended by this amendment to change or amend Ordinance No . 564, except as herein express~ provided as to establishing and creating an additional parking meter zone under Section 23 1 and all of the provisions of Ordinance No. 564, including penalties, shall apply to this amendment. SECTION 5. That any person, firm or corporation who shall violate, or aid or abet another to violate any of the provisions of this ordinance shall upon con• viction be deemed guilty of an offense and shall be fined in any sum not to exceed ONE HUNDRED ($100.00} DOLLARS. The Cit.y Secretary is hereby directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this ordinance together with penalty setout in Section 5, as an alterna- tive provided by Chapter 10, Page 112, Acts 1939 of the 46th Legislature as amend- ed by Chapter 264, Page 463, Acts 1947, of the 5oth Legislature. 0 \ WHEREAS, congested traffic conditions on the streets in the area above settorth as·a parking meter zone has created a traffic hazard, overtime parking in certain areas directly contributes to the existing traffic hazards and the need exists to adju8t parking time limits within zones, all of wh ich creates and constitutes a public emerg ency, which public emer g ency is hereby declared and creates an impera- tive public necessity that this ordinance take effect from and after its passage and publication of same for tw~ timmin a newspaper of general circulation publish• ed in the City of Lubboc k , Texas.
