AN ORDINANCE CREATING A PARK!l«X METER ZONE IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, BY
AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 15 AND SECTION 23 OF ORDINANCE NO. 564, SO AS TO
ADD AN ADDITIONAL PARKING METER ZONE AND PROVIDE FOR THE INSTALLATION, OPERATION
AND MAINTENANCE OF MECHANICAL DEVICES TO RmULATE PARKING IN SAID PARKING METER ZONE
PROVIDE FOR THE APPLICATION OF ALL PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 564 TO THE PARKING
METER ZONE HEREIN ESTABLISHED; FniNG PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF
THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEALING ALL PROVISIONS OF ALL OTHER ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE
WITH; FURTHER PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL NOT REPEAL ANI PORTION OF ORDIN•
_ANCE NO. 564, EXCEPT AS HEREIN EKPRESSLY PROVIDED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, changed traffic conditions. require extension of the parking meter zones
in the City of Lubbock to include parts ot certain streets named in the bod7 of
this ordinance together with adjustment in the time limit ot parking vehicles in
existing zones stated in the body or this ordinance and the governing b~ being
of the opinion and finds that the stated conditions in Ordinance No. 564 are appli•
cable to, and that the public interest requires that the provisions of said ordin•
ance should be made applicable to those parts or the streets and avenues herein
named, and Section 15 and Section 23 of Ordinance No. 5641 amended ror such pur•
poses, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMN[SSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKc
That Section 15 or Ordinance No. 564 is hereb7 amended so that said section shall
include the parking meter zone and the following provisional
·sECTION 1. That it shall be unlawful and an offense for aQf per:son, firm or
corporation operating a vehicle, to remain standing or parked upon ~ or the street
within aqy or said parking space within the parking meter zone established by this
ordinance, for a longer continuous period than the time limit stated herein, between
the hours of 9c00 o'clock A.M. and 6a00 o'clock P.M., of any day except Sundays and
holid~s officiallf designated by the City Commission o~he City of Lubbook, Texas.
SECTION 2. That Section 23 ot Ordinance No. 664, is hereby amended so as to
include and add Section 23a, which shall read as follows&
"' ·' "SECTION 23a. ·~ That a parking meter zone is hereby designated and established
in the City of Lubbock which shall embrace and inclUde the following streets and
parts of streets and limit the time of parking as follows, to-wit&
Two (2) hour zone:
South side ot Broadwq from Avenue "L" to Avenue "M'f•"
SECTION 3. All provisiona of other ordinances in conflict with the provisions
or this ordinance are hereby repealed provided nothing herein shall ever be con·
strued as repealing any part of Ordinance No. 564, except as herein expressly pro•
vided. ~
SECTION 4• That a~ person, firm or corporation who shall violate, or aid, or
abet another to violate anr of the provisions or this ordinance and Ordinance No. 56
which it amends, shall upon conviction be deemed guilty of an offense and shall be
fined i~ any sum not to exeeed .#lOO.oo.

WHEREAS, congested traffic conditions on the streets in the area above set forth
as a parking meter zone has created a traffic hazard, overtime parking in certain
areas direct~ contributes to the existi ng traffic hazards and the need exists to
adjust parking time limits within zones, all of whi ch creates and constitutes a pub
lie emergency, which public emergency is hereb;y declared and creates an imperative ·
public necessity t hat this ordinanc e take effect f rom and after its passage and pub-
lication of s a me for one time in a newspaper of general -circulation published in the
City of Lubbock, Texas.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
