WHEREAS, existing good building practices do not require an "Ordinary Separation"
providing ¢'minimum one hour fire resistance and it is deemed that "No Separation"
is required, and,
l'IHEREAS, the existing requirements for the types of buildings classified in
Group H Occupancies and as shown in Table No. 2 of said Section 504, Cha~ter 5, Part
III, of Ordinance No. 587, provides for 11 0rdinary Separation" and is in need of
immediate revision to require 11 l~o Separation", and,
WHEl.i.E.AS, Sections 1311 and 1312 of Chapter 13, Part III of (,'\;r.dinance No. 587,
provide for 11Drdinary Separation", and it is necessary to repe8l: said sections to
avoid conflicts with the amendment provided in Section No. 1, hereof,

Note: +Provided that any two garages, two paint of petroleum st~rage spaces, two
dry cleaning plants, may occur in the same building without any separation
being required. .

41 Provided that three--fourth inch (J/411 ) of metal lath and plaster on the
garage side and a self-closing, tight-fitting one and three-eighths inch
(1-J/811 ) solid slab wood door shall be permitted where the private '
g arage space will.a.ccominodate not more than four automobiles. ,_
Section 2. That Sections Numbers 1311, and, 1312, be, and are hereby repeaied.
Section J. The fact that the existing good building practices do not require
"Ordinary Separation", providing a minimum one hour fire resistance, and for the
further reason that ~an unusual hardship is placed upon such construction requir-
ing "Ordinary Separation", an immediate revision from "Ordinary Separation", to
"No Separation", is needed and an emergency exists necessitating that this ordin-
ance become effective at·once, and it is accordingly ordained that this ordinance
take effect this the 5th day of June, A.D., 1947, and thereafter be published once
a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper regularly published in the City of
Lubbock.

Affirmatively approved and passed on first reading by unanimous vote of the
Commission this 5th day of June, A.D., 1947.
