lH:IEREAS, it appearing to the City Commission that the particular streets kd
alleys are described in Sections la, lb, lc, 2, 3 and 4, hereof and largely surround
ed by propertARa~~iand operated for railway purposes by the Fort Worth and Denver
South Plains/Compa~, its assignees and lessees, and that any attempted use thereof
by the public would be more or less dangerous to the public safety, welfare and
convenience, the ·City Commission finds and concludes that in the exercise of its
police powers it should close said streets and elleys as described in Sections la,
lb, lc, 2, 3 and 4 hereof, by this ordinance enacted for that purpose, T~'ORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION Or~ THE CITY ··OF LUBBOOK, TEXAS, THAT: .
SECTION 1 (a) All of Avenue B, South of, and lying between the South line of
Merrills Addition to the City of Lub b ock, Lubbock County, Texas, to a line parallel
to and 50 feet northeasterly from, meas~ed at right angles to the center line of.
:F'ort Worth and Denver South PJains Railwey Company main track, be and is hereby
closed.
(b) All of Avenue C, South of, and lying between the South line of Merrills
Addition to the City of .Lubboclc, Lubbock County, Texas, to a line p arallel to and
50 feet Northeasterly from, measured at r ight angles to the centerline of Fort Warth
and Denver South Plains Railway Company main track, be and is hereby closed.
(c) All of Avenue D, South of, and lying betvreen the South line of Merrills
Addition to the City of Lubb ock, Lubbock County, Texas, to a line parallel to a nd
50 feet Northeasterly from, measured at right angles to the centerline of Fort Worth
and Denver ~outh Plains Railway Company main track, be and is hereby closed.
SECTION 2. All of the alley in Blocks 1 and 2, Henry Smith 1 s Re-Sub-division
of North part of Blocks 1, 6 and 7, Usleaman t s Addition from the \Vest line of
Avenue B to line p arallel to and 50 feet northeasterly from, measured at right angle ,
to, centerline cf Fort Worth and Denver South Plains ~ailway Company main track,
comprising a length of 350 feet through-Block 1 and an average length of 293.4 feet
through Block 2 of said Addition, be and is hereby closed.

SECTION 3. All of the north and South alley in the sub -divided portion of Bl.ock
1, Usleaman's Addition lying north of a line parallel to and 50 feet northeasterly
from, measured at right angles to, centerline of Fort Worth a nd Denver South Plains
Railway Company main track, and lying South of the Soutp line of Block 1 of the
Henry Smith Re-sub-division of the North part of Block 1, 6, and 7, Usleamanls
Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, comprising an average of
approximately 32.2 feet, be and ~s hereby closed.
SECTION 4• All that part of Avenue F lying 137.5 feet south of North lines of
Blocks One and Two of Morning Side Addition (and being all that part of said Averme
F lying between Lot One in Block Two on west side of said Avenue F and Lot Nine in
Block One on east side of said Avenue F, except the South 5 feet, which is left
open to increase width of the alley on the South from 15 feet to 20 feet,) be and is
hereby closed.
SECTION 5. Provided further that the above sections of this ordinance closing
the streets and alleys as described in Sections l(a), (b), (c), 2, 3 and 4, hereof,
shell not in any manner affect the easement and rights of the City of Lubbock to
lay, maintain and operate sewer lines, as it may now own.
S:b:CTION 6 (a) !'or taxation purp oses that portion of Avenue B, as described in
Section l(a) h ereof, and as closed therein, is hereby designated as Out Lot A,
Block No. 1, Henry Smithrs Re-Subdivision of the North part of Blocks 1, 6, and 7,
Usleaman 1 s Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.
(b) Far taxation purposes that portion of Avenue C, as described in Section l(b J ~
hereof, and as closed therein, is hereby designated as Out Lot B, Block 1, Henry
Smith's Re-Subdivision of the North pari of Blocks 1, 6 and 7, Usleaman 1 s Addition
to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.
(c) For taxation purposes that portion of Avenue D, as described in Section
l(c), hereof, and as closed therein, is hereby designated as Out Lot C, Block No.
2, Henry Smith's Re-Subdivision of the North Fart of Blocks 1, 6, and 7, Usleaman's
Addition to the City of .Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.
SECTI~N ?(a). For taxation purposes that portion of the alley as described in
Section 2 hereof, and as closed therein, lying West of the West line of Avenue B,
and, lying East of the East line of Avenue C, is hereby d esignated as Out~ot D,
Block 1, of the Henry Smith's Re-Subdivision of the North part of Block 1, 6 and
7, Usleaman's Addition to the City of Lubbock, laubbock County, Texas.
(b) For taxation purposes that p ortion of the alley as described in Section 2,
hereof, and as closed therein, lying 'West of the West line of Avenue C, and, lying
East of the East line of Avenue D, is hereby designated as Out"Lot E, Block 2,
Henry Smith 1 s Re-Subdivision of the North part of Block 1, 6, and 7, Usleaman's
Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubboclc County, Texas.
SECTION 8. For taxation purposes that portion of the alley as described in
Section 3 hereof, and as close d therein, is hereby designated as 10ut Lot F, Block
1, Henry Smith's Re-Subdivision of the North part of Block 1, 6, a nd 7, Usleaman 1 s
Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.
SECTION 9. For taxation pt~poses that portion of Avenue F as described in
Section 4, hereof, and as closed therein, is hereby designated as iOut Lot G, Block
2, Morning Side Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas

SECTION 10. For the purpose of a better description and location of that part
of said Avenues and Alleys, as described in Section la, lb, lc, 2, 3, and 4, hereof,
and as closed therein, reference is here made to the attached map, marked exhibit
"At', which is made a part of this Ordinance.
Passed and approved by unanimous vote of the City Commission on first reading
this 22nd day of Max , 1947.
Passed and a pproved by unanimous vote of the City Commission on second reading
this 5th day of June , 194 7.
