AN ORDlliANCE CLOOING, VACATING AND ABANOQIHNG THAT PORTIOli OF 29th STREET LYING
BETWEEN LCYI'S 11 TO 20, INCLUSIVE, OF BLOC K 14 AND LCJrS 1 TO 10, n-JCLUSIVE, BLOOK 1.3,
WOODLAWN ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LWBOOK, AND ALSO CLOOING, VACATING AND ABANDONING
THE .lLLEY BISECTING BLOOK 1.3 <F SAID ADDITION.
WHEREAS, that portion of 29th Street lying between the South 1/2 of Block l4 and
the North 1/2 of Block 1.3, Woodlawn Addition to the City of Lubbock, Texas, as
hereinafter described by metes and bounds together with the alle,r bisecting Block l.3
of said addition is required and needed immediately for school purposes, and the
Lubboek Independent School District owns the South 1/2 of Block 14 and all of Block
lJ of said Addition and it is to meet an imperative public need to devote said
property ovrned by them together with the alley and street described ) to school pur-
poses, and,
WHEREAS, the .Lubbock Independent School District has petitioned the City
&ommission to close that portion of 29th Street described, together with the alley
far such purposes and the Canmission finds that such purpose and use is imperative,
that if aqy need whatever exists for using same far traffic that the need far
school purposes far out-weighs ~ need for other purposes and that closing the same
as petitioned by the said school district would be and is in the public interest,
THEREFORE,

BE IT aiDAINED BY THE CM COMMISSION OF THE CITI OF LUBBO::K, TEXASI
THAT 29th Street lyii:a.g between Block lJ and Block 14, together with the alley
bisecting Block 1.3 in Woodlawn Addition to the City of Lubbock, Texas are hereby
closed, vacated and abandoned for street and alley purposes, that portion of 29th
Street being abandoned is described by metes and bounds as followsa
BEGINNING at the Northeast Corner of Block lJ, Woodlawn Addition;
THENCE North 50 feet to a point 1n the Southeast earner of Lot 20,
Block 14;
THENCE West 605 feet along the south lines of Lots 11 to .20,
inclusive, Block 14, to the Southwest Carner of Lot 11, said Block;
THENCE South 50 feet to the Northwest earner of Lot 10, Block 1.3,
Woodlawn Addition;
THENCE East along the north lines of Lots 1 to 10 inclusive,
Block lJ, said Addition, to the place of beginning;
and the alle,y being closed is described by metes and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at the Northeast corner of tot 20, Block 13;
THENCE North 15 feet to the southeast earner of Lot 1, Block 13;
THENCE West aloog the south lines of Lots 1 to 20, inclusive,
Block 13, to the southwest corner of Lot 10, said Block;
THENCE SoUth 15 feet to the northwest corner of Lot 111 Block 13;
THENCE East 605 feet along the north line of Lots 11 to 20
inclusive, Block 1.3 1 to the place of beginning;

'1'0 THE HONCRABLE CITY COMMISSION CF THE CITY CF LUBBOOK, TEXAS:
Now comes your petitioner, Lubbock Independent School District,
Incorporated, a municipal corporation, with its principal place of busi-
ness in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, and 1¥"ould respectfully shOW' as
follcms:
That your petitioner is the mmer of the following described
property within the Corporate Limits of the City of Lubbock, to-wit:

Block Thirteen (13) and Lots Eleven (11<) to Twenty (20)
inclusive, Block Fo'UI"6een (14), Woodlawn Addition, a
sub-division ot the North One-halt of the Southeast One-
fourth of Section Fifteen (15), Block B, Lubbock ~ounf:.y,
Texas;

That according to the plat and dedication of Woodlawn Addi-
tion appearing in Volume 321, at page 427, Deed Records of Lubbock
County, Texas, an alley bisects Block Number Thirteen (13), said addi-
tion; and a street fifty feet in width lies between Blocks Thirteen (13)
and Fourteen (14), said addition;
That the present ovmet;s of Woodlawn Addition to the City of
Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, have by deeds duly executed, released
and quitclaimed said alley and said street insofar as the same lie be-
tween and bisect said Blocks Thirteen (13) and Fourteen (14) to your
petitioner;

That in order to use said property for school purposes it
will be. necessary and be to the best interests of the public generally
