AN ORDINANCE DECLARING BLOCKS 9, 10, 110 12, 13, 1-4, 15 AND 16 OF HARKS ADDITION
TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK AND THE AREA SOUTH FROM THE SOUTH LINE OF PARKS ADDITION TO
THE CITY LIMITS LINE RUNNING ALONG AND NEAR 4TH STREET AND LYING EAST OF THE CITY
LIMITS LINE ALONG MADISON AVENUE .AND WEST OF THE CITY LII4IITS LINE RUNNING AWNG
COLLEGE AVENUE, WHICH AREA INCLUDES BLOCKS 24, 25 AND 26 OF FRIENDS ADDITION, TO
BE WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, SUCH PROPERTY BEING HERE-
INAFTER DESCRIBED BY METES AND BOUNDS.
WHEREAS., a majority of the inhabitants qualified to vote for members of the
.Legislature, of the territory hereinafter described as Parks Addition and which
adjoins and is within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock have duly peti-
tioned the Mayor and City Commission and voted in favor of becomming a part of the
City of Lubbock, and,
WHEREAS, the petition also includes inhabitants and/or property owners of the
area which constitutes a majority of the inhabitants of said Parks Addition being
then and there qualified to vote for members of the Legislature of Texas, and a
majority of property owners in said area, and,
WHEREAS, three of the qualified voters, being inhabitants of the said area have
made affidavit as requited by Article 974, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, and
other legal provisions, such petition and affidavit constitutes the vote of said
persons and has been duly filed with the Mayor, who has duly certified it to the
City Commission for appropriate action, and,
WHEREAS, said area adjoins the existing City Limits and boundaries of the City
of Lubbock and does not exceed one-half mile in width and. said Parks Addition and
the total area hereinafter described by metes and bounds is in line of development,
growth and expansion being experienced by the City of Lubbock, and all of said area
herein described by metes and bounds is in fact within the corporate limits of the
City of Lubbock by reason of previous extension of the City Limits and the Govern-
ing Body of the City of Lubbock deems that an ordinance declaring all of said area
to be within the corporate limits, to be in the public interest, THEREFORE..
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CO11MISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
The existing and present City Limits and boundaries of the City'of Lubbock are
hereby extended and declared to have been extended by this and previous ordinances
so as to include within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock the following
described property and area:

Beginning at the Southeast corner of Section 20, Block A; Thence North -,.long
the East line of Section 909 Block A, a distance of 1980 feet to the inter-
section of lst Street & College Avenue; Thence ifest in lst Street a distance
of 21640 feet to a point in the West .Line of the East 1/2 of Section 20,
Block A, which ie at the intersection of 1st Street & Madison Avenue; Thence
South along the Vest Line of the East 1/2 of Section 20, Block A. a distance
of 1,950 feet to a point in the West line of the East 1/2 of Section 200,
Block A, a distance of 30 feet North of the South Dine of Section 200 Block
A; Thence East along a line parallel to and 30 feet North of the South Line
of Section 20, Block A, a distance of approximately 720 feet to a point in
the Northwest Right -of -Way line of the Santa Fe Railroad; Thence Southeast
across the Santa Fe Railroad Right-af -dray to a point in the Southeast Right -
of -Way line of the Santa Fe Railroad and 30 feet South of the North line of
a
Section 1, Block E-2; Thence East along a lane parallel to and 30 feet South
of the North line of Section 1, Block E-2, a distance of approximately 1p825
feet to a point in the East line of Section. 1, Block E-2; Thence North along
the East line of Section 1, Block E-2 a distance of 30 feet to the Southeast
corner of Section 20, Block A, which is the point of beginning.
And which said area includes the following described tract of land:
Beginning at a point in the present City Limits line at the intersection of
lst Street and College Avenue, said point being in the West line of Section
19, Block A, and 3340 Feet South of North line of said Section; THENCE
West in 1st Street 2640 feet to a point in City Limits line; THENCE South
in Madison Avenue and along present City Limits line 660 feet; THE14CE East
2640 Feet in lst Street to a point in present City Limits line in College
Avenue; THENCE North along present City .Limits line in College Avenue 660
Feet to place of beginning and containing 40 acres, described in the
petition.

half of Section 20, Block A, which point is 660 feet
North of the center of the South line of said Section;
THENCE North 630 feet to the South line of 2nd Street;
THENCE East along the South line of 2nd Street to its
intersection with the Northwest line of the railroad
right-of-way; THENCE Southwesterly along the railroad
right-of-way to its intersection with the North line
of the Blankenship tract above described; THENCE West

WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 795 now being published and
which has not passed the final reading, the City of Lubbock
intends to take the aforesaid land into the city limitprs of
the City of Lubbock; and
WHEREAS, the said A. W. Blankenship and Mrs. Anna F.
Parks d❑ not desire to have the aforesaid land incorporated
within the city limits. of the City of Lubbock, Texas=
THEREFORE, the undersigned A. W. Blankenship and
Mrs. Anna F. Parks, owners of the above described land, d❑
hereby petition the Honorable City Commission of the City of
Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas that the above described land
which contains more than ten acres, is uninhabited and is
contiguous to,and adjoining land which is not within the city
limits of Lubbock, Texas and is contiguous to the lines of
