10- 10- 194LD Chi DINANCE I�Ci. 793 1,9 L[U AN ORDINANCE MMMIANG THE CITY LINTS AND BOMMARIE4S OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEAS SO AS TO ANNEX AND INCLUDE WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY C1F LUBBOCK THE RW EM HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED BY METES AND BOWDS AND BEING ffi9OWN AND OTHER9M DESCRIBED AS BEING A PORTION OF BURLESON AND OSBORN ADDITION, WH$E=, a majority of the inhabitante, qualified to vote for members of the Legislature, of the territory hereinafter described and which adjoins the City Limits of the City of Lubbooks have duly petitioned the Mayor and City Commission and voted in favor of becoming a part of the City of Lubbock, and, WHERW, the petition also includes inhabitants and/or property owners of the area which constitutes a majority of the inhabitants of said territory being then and there qualified to vote for members of the Legislature of Texas and a majority of property owners in such area, and, WHII1LAS, three of the qualified voters inhabitants of the area have made affi- davit as required by Article 974, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, and other legal provisions, such petition and affidavit constitutes the vote of the said persons and has been duly filed with the Mayor who has duly certified it to the City Commission for appropriate action, and, WEEREAS, said territory adjoins the existing City Limits and boundaries of the City of Lubbock and does not exceed in width one-half mile and said territory is in lima of development, growth and expansion being experienced by the City of Lubbock and the governing body of the City of Lubbock deems inclusion of the en- tire area within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, in the public i.n- terest, THEWOREp BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: The existing and present City Limits and boundary of the City of Lubbock is hereby extended so as to annex and include within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, the following described property: Beginning at a point in the present city limits Line at the intersection of North ►nth Street and Madison Avenue, said point being the Southwest corner of the North 1/2 of the Northeast 1/4 of Section 20, Block A; THENCE along present city limits lines in Madison Avenue 1000 feet; THEE East in Merthel Street 1740 feet; THENCE South 1000 feet; THENCE West in North 4th Street along present city limits line 1740 feet to the place of beg{{„ma AND IT IS SO CRDEHED. Osborn 610 Myrick Building Lubbock, Texas Dear Mr. Osborn: The City Engineer has requested that a petition be sent you to be used for the purpose of bringing Burleson & Osborn Addition into the City limits, and attached hereto is the complete petition in blank which has been generally used for the purpose of annexing territories. The petition is numbered by pages one to six inclusive. Page one is the plat of the addition. Page two shows what the signers are petitioning for and carries a metes and bounds description of the addition. It Is required that only qualified voters living within the ad- dition sign on pages two, three and four. - On Page five, the space begins where persons living with- in the addition, BUT ARE NOT QUALIFIED VOTERS, and persons living outside the addition but who own property within the addition, may sign. an. Page six is the affidavit that must be made by three qualified voters who reside in -the -addition and have signed the first part of the petition beginning on page two. When the petition has been completed, please return it to me and after approval, will be immediately passed to the City Commission for consideration.
